Vivaldi Technologies has released a new version of the alternative web browser Vivaldi. Version 5.7 mainly brings new options for audio and video.
Option to continue playing audio when Vivaldi is running in the background
The developers have added a long-requested feature to their browser, namely the ability to continue playing audio from any page while Vivaldi is running in the background. This will be appreciated, for example, by those who are often on YouTube. You can continue to play audio/video even when YouTube is minimized and even if you are not a YouTube Premium subscriber.
To enable this feature, go to Settings→General and enable the option Enable background audio playback. When this feature is off, switching to another app will stop the video from playing. When enabled, you'll be able to hear audio while interacting with other apps.
Disable automatic video playback
If you were reading an article while browsing the web and you were surprised by an unexpected video, you came across a page that has so-called autoplay videos. Such videos are often associated with advertising.
The new version of the browser now blocks autoplay videos. If you want to turn them on for some reason, the option Play videos automatically can be found in Site Settings under Settings.
Vivaldi now starts faster and with many tabs
Few people have only one tab open when browsing the Internet. It is not an exception when we have several dozen of them open within one session. And it takes a while to open a browser session with many tabs. Vivaldi is now improved so that the speed of opening a multi-tabbed browser session is significantly faster.

A more scalable user interface
Mobile browsers are usually optimized for smartphones, not tablets. Vivaldi's user interface is designed to work equally well on tablets, Chromebooks and car screens.
However, sometimes the size of the elements on the touch screen is too small or, conversely, too large for easy operation. It depends on the resolution and other factors.
