Samsung review Galaxy S23 is here! It was on February 1st that Samsung unveiled its flagship range of classic mobile phones for this year. It does not deliver as expected Galaxy The S23 isn't a groundbreaking technological advance, but that doesn't mean you should ignore it completely. It's still the best thing on the field Android phones you can find.

The very best is of course Galaxy S23 Ultra, but in terms of price it is basically somewhere else. For some, it is a big cake and, after all, an unnecessarily loaded machine for which they may not have a use. That is also why the series counts on three models, when it starts exactly and only with u Galaxy The S23, basically the best phone you can buy from Samsung.

Even that little is enough

If we look at the differences vs Galaxy S22, we don't find many of them, which does not mean that they are not here. Samsung has taken the proven route of not breaking what works and fixing what doesn't. In this respect it is Galaxy The S23 is a long-awaited phone that got rid of the Exynos, improved the display, battery and front camera. Everyone has to judge for themselves if this is enough. We know that it is enough, but with regard to which phone model you are switching from.

There's no need to lie to yourself that it doesn't really make sense from last year's model, unless you're an avid gamer and the Exynos 2200 burns your hands - even if you're more likely to reach for a higher model anyway. However, Samsung has tried to unify the design of its entire line of high-end phones, and Galaxy The S23 and S23+ thus received the appearance of the Ultra, at least from their back, which greatly distinguishes them from the previous generation.

The new design language of Samsung's flagship looks great and we hope the company doesn't change it anytime soon and sticks with it as long as possible. Why? Because there is nothing better. This solution, which the company reached for, is simply the most minimalistic possible, because we do not expect to get rid of the output of individual lenses. This is how we got rid of at least the entire module. You don't have to worry about damage because Samsung has thought of that and there is steel reinforcement around each lens.

The most compact of the trio

The most important question for potential buyers Galaxy The S23 is, of course, whether the phone is compact enough for normal one-handed use. You won't find a more compact device in Samsung's portfolio, so in terms of controls, it's the best you can buy. Overall, the phone is amazingly small, so even the cases don't make it bigger, but it still has a large enough display to see everything you need.

The display has a diagonal of 6,1", which is the standard of Apple, which uses this size for basic iPhones and iPhone Pro, so it is not inferior in any way, although it is true that competing manufacturers make their "tops" bigger. After all, you can choose the S23+ model here as well. But a smaller phone = a lower price, which is exactly the advantage Galaxy S23.

In regards to the display, very little has changed here. It's still the same screen from Galaxy S22, with the only difference that its brightness can reach its peak of 1 nits. It's the same thing that his two bigger and more expensive brothers can do, which is how he caught up with their equipment. You'll appreciate it in the summer in direct sunlight, but for many it might just be numbers that they'll never notice with automatic brightness. In the current gray weather, we tried the limits, but we couldn't judge them because the sun didn't shine properly.

S23 brightness

The refresh rate will reach 120 Hz, but the lower limit still starts at 48 Hz, which he has already introduced Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. It's a bit of a shame, here it would like to be inspired by the Ultra, which drops to 1 Hz (just like the iPhone 14 Pro). So it's also not something you notice with the eye, it's something that saves the battery, which is bigger here, but not all-powerful, because it's clearly limited by the size of the device.

The phone is perfectly balanced, it holds precisely, the Armor Aluminum frame does not slip, the antenna shielding strips do not detract from the appearance (at least the green color we tested). Since the glass is then Gorilla Glass Victus 2, it should be the most durable that is in phones with Androidem used. The ultrasonic fingerprint reader works as you would expect, that is, without any problems. Considering the size, the materials used and the appearance, it is not possible Galaxy S23 reproach anything. The phone is simply fun from the first unpacking from the box to everyday use.

Are phone cameras really the most important thing?

Someone may have performance as the most important thing in a phone, another display, another prefers to balance everything as a whole. Galaxy The S23 isn't the best mobile phone for photography, just like its predecessor wasn't. And since nothing has changed here on the hardware side, you can't expect miracles. So there is the classic trio of 50 + 12 + 10 MPx, which already took great photos last year, and which takes them this year as well.

They are great for sharing, printing, whatever. They are not the best, but they are not supposed to be either, because the best are supposed to be from Galaxy S23 Ultra. The thing to consider here is that you are balancing price, size and specifications. So the main question here is rather whether there are differences between Galaxy S23 to Galaxy S23 Ultra so big that you should pay a third of the price just for the higher model. If you're not comparing the results from the S23 and S23 Ultra side by side, you'll be very pleased with those from the smaller, cheaper model.

Even at 12 MPx (pixel stacking from 50 MPx works here) there is enough detail and a good dynamic range. Samsung has tweaked the contrast a lot this time, so everything looks more vibrant, but the color reproduction is still not always completely accurate. If you belong to the camp of those who need the most faithful presentation of reality, you will probably not be satisfied. If you're one of those who don't want to deal with post-production anymore, you'll be glad you did.

If you want, if you have a reason to do so, you can also take photos at 50 MPx in the 3:4 format. However, expect an increase in the data requirements of such a photograph and the fact that both the dynamic range and the exposure suffer. Galaxy The S23 also handles 8K video at 30 fps. Videos in this setting are logically noticeably smoother, thanks to improved optical stabilization, a feature that Samsung was very proud to talk about at the launch. Improved stabilization also helps with 4K, QHD or Full HD. Super stabilization mode can do QHD at 60 fps and is ideal for action shots.

Then there is Astro Hyperlapse for time-lapses of the sky and stars, or photos of star trails. Nice, but you probably won't even try it. The Expert RAW application can also take 50MPx photos. But honestly, let's say that you don't need either. When it comes to tele and ultra-wide cameras, the results from Galaxy The S23s are more or less the same as what they saw last year. Rather forget about them at night. On the other hand, the first one mentioned is fun, and such iPhone 14 owners can indulge in this aspect. The 12MPx front camera, which has jumped from 10MPx, provides ideal results, even in portrait mode.

Salvation for domestic fans is here

There Android 13 and One UI 5.1. I can't imagine a better superstructure from a manufacturer than the one offered by Samsung. Here you can also benefit from the entire ecosystem of services. It's basically the best version Androidu which is currently available in the market, you are also guaranteed 4 updates Androidua 5 years of security updates. So you end up with Androidin 17

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy it's a crazy name, but it's a salvation for domestic fans who get rid of the bad Exynos. It's currently the most powerful you can v Android to have a phone, and it can be seen in everything – the fluidity of the system, starting with processing photos and ending with playing games. We cannot assess the slower storage of 128GB, we got the 256GB version for testing. The performance does not need to be addressed, but how is the "central heating"? When editing and saving video, it heats up, it also heats up when playing demanding games (Genshin Impact), but it also heats up iPhones or Androidand other manufacturers. It's nothing to annoy or limit you. If you use a case, you won't know it at all.

If you use the S23 on Wi-Fi all day, you probably won't need to charge it until the next morning. 5 to 6 hours of active screen time is a standard that the device can easily handle. If you go to 5G or 4G, it can be assumed that you will have to put the phone on the charger at night. Compared to last year's generation, this is an increase in capacity by 200 mAh see as well as better chip debugging. Like the S22, the S23 only supports 25W charging, where you can reach 30% capacity in 60 minutes. However, a full charge takes roughly the same time, i.e. about an hour and a quarter.

Why buy iPhone 14 when he is here Galaxy S23?

After 14 days of testing, I can't think of anything to really criticize. The fact that there is no headphone jack or SD card slot is not surprising, as is the absence of headphones and a charger in the package. With the current trend, you can't even fault it. The fact that it has 128GB of slower storage doesn't matter in the case of the 256GB version. Perhaps Samsung could have done away with the base in the form of 128 GB here as well, but considering such an increase in price, it is perhaps a good thing that it did not do so.

Galaxy The S23 is a top-of-the-range phone that's not worth buying if you have one Galaxy S22. However, if you still own the previous generation, you have even more reasons to upgrade. Personally, I don't see any reason to buy iPhone 14 when we have here Galaxy S23 with more photographic options, a clearly better display and a lower price tag. Yes, it goes on Androidu, but One UI is the best possible add-on you can use.

The small 6,1" display suits many, because it makes the phone compact. Personally, I would rather go for the Plus model, specifically for the larger 6,6" display, which therefore also has a larger battery, but that is more about personal preferences. Galaxy The S23 was simply successful from start to finish, despite the fact that there really aren't too many new features compared to the previous generation. The price of 128GB is 23 CZK, the price of the 490GB version is 256 CZK.
