Samsung turned around. After launch Galaxy We learned from S23 that satellite communication still has time, but not even a month has passed and the company has already presented its solution, which it has also successfully tested. But if Apple can send emergency SOS via satellites, Samsung devices will also be able to stream videos. And that's not all.

Samsung announced in a press release that it has developed a 5G NTN (Non-Terrestrial Networks) modem technology that enables two-way direct communication between smartphones and satellites. This technology allows smartphone users to send and receive text messages, calls and data even when there is no mobile network nearby. The company plans to integrate this technology into future Exynos chips.

The South Korean company's new technology is similar to what we've seen in the iPhone 14 series, which allows the phones to send emergency messages in remote areas with no signal. However, Samsung's 5G NTN technology greatly expands this. Not only does it bring connectivity to remote areas and regions previously unreachable by traditional communication networks, be it mountains, deserts or oceans, but the new technology can also be useful in connecting disaster-prone areas or communicating with drones, or even according to Samsung and flying cars.

Samsung's 5G NTN meets the standards defined by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP Release 17), which means it is compatible and interoperable with traditional communication services offered by chip companies, smartphone manufacturers and telecom operators. Samsung tested this technology by successfully connecting to LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellites through simulations using its existing Exynos 5300 5G modem. The company says its new technology will bring two-way text messaging and even high-definition video streaming.

She could already come with Galaxy S24, that is, in a year, although the question here is what kind of chip this series will use, since according to the latest reports, Samsung does not want to return to its own Exynos at its peak. However, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is already capable of satellite communication, but the phone itself must be capable of it, and above all, the software from Google must be prepared in its Androidu, which is expected only from its 14th version.
