While smartphone battery life continues to improve, most, even the top-of-the-line ones, won't last more than a few days on a single charge. A Reddit user decided to change that to his own Galaxy A32 5G installed a battery with a giant capacity of 30 mAh.

A Reddit user who appears on it under a name Downtown Cranberry44, took his Galaxy A32 5G, Samsung's mid-range phone from last year, and replaced its 5000mAh battery with one with six times the capacity, drastically extending its battery life. A 5000 mAh battery is above average in itself – most smartphones sold today have a battery capacity of 3500-4500 mAh, with iPhones averaging slightly less.

Galaxy The A32 5G can last up to two days on a single charge in normal use, which isn't bad, but the aforementioned Reddit user found it insufficient. His modification, consisting of six Samsung 50E 21700 battery cells, is something quite different, as it allows his phone to last at least a week on a single charge. The battery also has two USB-A ports for charging other devices, as well as a USB-C port, a microUSB port and Lightning.

Of course, such a solution has its drawbacks. The first one is really long charging – the 30000mAh battery is fully charged in about 7 hours. The second is the weight, where the phone now weighs almost half a kilo instead of the standard 205 g.

Of course, there are many reasons why you should not attempt such a modification at all. On the one hand, there is a safety point of view, because such a modification, even with a solid cover, is more prone to damage. In addition to the impractical size, when a phone modified in this way does not really fit in a pocket, there is also an "aircraft" reason - safety regulations in a number of countries prohibit the use of devices with batteries with a capacity of more than 27000 mAh on airplanes. Even so, this modification is at least noteworthy.
