Samsung smart watch Galaxy Watch have already saved several lives. Or, more accurately, the health-related features and sensors saved them, as a few watch users have reported Galaxy Watch4 to Watch5 Pro, whose stories the Korean giant brought to light.

One user Galaxy Watch5 Pro shared how his watch's EKG feature led him to visit a local clinic where he discovered he was suffering from a heart arrhythmia. Cardiac arrhythmia is a heart rhythm disorder that causes an irregular heartbeat and can have serious and fatal consequences.

The user bought the watch last November and said he tried the ECG function "purely out of curiosity". Galaxy Watch5 Pro revealed symptoms of sinus rhythm and atrial fibrillation, prompting him to take these results to a local clinic and hospital for a thorough examination. Thanks to this intervention, the heart arrhythmia is now being treated. He is said to be taking medication and is scheduled to undergo heart surgery in April.

Samsung also shared a user story Galaxy Watch4, who claims that without them, he would not have recognized the seriousness of his problem. The user confided that he was using the sensor Galaxy Watch4 checked his heart rate regularly, and these checks prompted him to seek professional help. Doctors subsequently diagnosed him with ventricular tachycardia. Ventricular tachycardia is a heart rhythm disorder caused by irregular signals in the heart's lower chambers, causing them to contract faster than they should. It can have serious complications and cause a heart attack. The heart rate sensor is next to the rows Galaxy Watch4 to Watch5 available everywhere, but the ECG measurement function is currently limited to only a few markets. Among them are the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
