This week we informed you that some phone users Galaxy S23 Ultra complain about problems with the connection of the built-in S Pen stylus. Fortunately, Samsung only took a few days to come up with a fix. Just update the app in question.
The S23 Ultra uses the Bluetooth wireless standard to receive commands from the S Pen. This allows you to wave the pen and use Air Actions to control the camera, media, etc. To save battery, this connection is terminated when the stylus is stored in the phone. It's supposed to turn back on when you pull the pen out of its dedicated slot, however the bug mentioned seems to reduce the chance of that happening to a "50 to 50".

While it's still possible to use the S Pen for normal stylus functions even without a Bluetooth connection, it was frustrating to get a pop-up alerting you to a problem when you tried to write a note. One temporary solution was to turn on the option in the settings Keep the S Pen connected, which keeps the Bluetooth connection on even when the S Pen is charging inside the phone. While another drain on the battery may not be the end of the world, it's still something you shouldn't do, as it means the stylus icon will be permanently displayed in the status bar, which may be annoying for some.

Samsung has now started releasing a patch that properly fixes the S Pen connection issue. The fix comes in the form of an update to the Air Command app in the store Galaxy Store. You can check if it is available as follows:
- Open a store Galaxy Store.
- At the bottom left, click the button Menu.
- At the top of the screen, tap the button updates.
If you don't see that the relevant update is available, either it has already been installed or it hasn't arrived yet. If you already have it, you can easily check by removing and reinserting the S Pen several times. If you don't see any disconnection notifications, the fix has been applied.

The update seems to have helped. Pen attached when pulled out. When it is on the phone, it can be seen on the battery widget. Before the update it didn't show up until it connected.
Unfortunately, this application update still did not solve the problem. It's always 50 to 50. If I leave the pen still connected in the settings, there is no problem. Then the icon also lights up, as my colleague writes under/overhead. But I don't want that…
