Analytical company Canalys published message on the global wearables market (which it divides into basic wristbands, basic watches and smartwatches) in Q4 and all of 2022. According to it, a total of 50 million wearable devices were shipped in the October-December period, representing a year-over-year decline by 18%. For the whole of last year, the market fell by 5%.

In the final quarter of last year, all five of the top players in the field saw declines “wearables”, that is Apple, Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung and Google, with the latter reporting the largest – by 46%. Overall, the market fell by an unprecedented 18% in the period, which Canalys analysts said was due to a "difficult macroeconomic environment". For the entire year 2022, only the Cupertino giant recorded growth, by 5%.

It was number one on the market again last year Apple, when it managed to ship 41,4 million wearable devices and held a share of 22,6%. Xiaomi finished in second place with 17,1 million wearable devices shipped (down 41% year-on-year) and a share of 9,3%, followed by Huawei in third place with 15,2 million wearable devices shipped (down 21% year-on-year) and a share of 8,3 %, fourth Samsung with 14 million shipped wearable devices (year-on-year decrease of 4%) and a share of 7,7%, and the top five is rounded off by Google, which shipped 11,8 million wearable devices to the market (year-on-year decrease of 22%) and its share was 6,4%.

Overall, 182,8 million wearable electronics were shipped to the market last year, which is 5% less than in 2021. Note that Canalys divides wearable electronics into three categories, namely basic wristbands, basic watches and smart watches. Samsung Galaxy Watch6 will not be presented until the summer, so it cannot be expected that its sales will grow dramatically by then.
