Although the absence of a 3,5 mm jack connector makes modern smartphones more elegant, and above all more resistant to dust and liquid ingress, many still regret its removal. Now it is practically only found in the low-end class, when it was simply a burden for top models. However, here you will find 5 reasons why it would be nice if it was still present even in high-end smartphones.

Of course we know that the times are wireless and we either adapt to it or we are just unlucky. TWS, or completely wireless headphones, are a clear trend, and there's no sign of that changing. We also understand that we can still use wired headphones with any phone, as long as we have the ideal connector or the appropriate reduction (you can buy a USB-C connector here, for example). Unfortunately, you can't listen and charge your phone at the same time. Here it's more about just lamenting about the good old days.

You don't need to charge them

Today, everything is charged – from phones, to watches, to headphones. Yes, they only need maybe 5 minutes to give you another hour of gaming, but it's still something you have to keep in mind and dread when you're on the road and hear the low power alarm. You just plug in wired headphones and listen. In addition, with a device with a battery, it naturally happens that it degrades. In a year it won't last as well as a new one, in two years it can offer half the listening time and you won't do anything about it, because you won't change the battery. If you take good care of your wired headphones, they will easily last you 10 years.

Wired headphones are harder to lose

If you're the type of person who carries your headphones with you everywhere, you've probably lost a pair of TWS headphones somewhere. In the best case, it just fell out in your backpack, the cable, or you ended up finding it buried under the sofa cushion. But in the worst case, it was left on the train or plane with no chance of finding it. In such a situation, even their search functions will not help. But how many times have you lost your wired headphones?

They sound better

Although TWS headphones are great, they cannot match the quality of classic "wires", even if they bring some technologies that may be interesting for many (360-degree sound, active noise cancellation). Regardless of how Bluetooth improves, such headphones will never play like a wired one, because there are naturally losses in format conversions, and even Samsung's codecs will not change anything.

They are cheaper

Yes, you can get TWS headphones for a few hundred crowns, but wired ones for a few tens. If we move to a higher segment, You already have to pay a few thousand versus a few hundred. You will usually pay over five thousand CZK for the best TWS headphones (Galaxy Buds2 Pro costs CZK 5), but higher-quality wired headphones cost half that price. It is of course true that even wired headphones cost more, but their quality is somewhere else. In addition, as mentioned in the first point, you also have to change headphones with batteries more often, so the acquisition costs are really higher here.

There are no pairing issues

If you are pairing headphones Galaxy Buds with Samsung phones, or AirPods with iPhones, you probably won't encounter a problem. However, if you want to use headphones from another manufacturer, the comfort of use is considerably reduced. Switching between phone and computer also causes considerable pain, often not completely smoothly. With a wire, you just "pull it out of the phone and plug it into the computer".
