Today, Instagram is much more than just a stream of posts. The app floods you with an abundance of stories, suggested posts even from creators you don't follow, and of course ads. No matter which corner of Instagram you browse, you're bound to see sponsored content every few posts. When you click on a post on the search page, the generated feed below it will also start showing ads. Instagram is currently testing these paid placements and plans to enable them globally in the coming months.

In addition, a new ad format called Reminder ads, i.e. reminder ads. If you see one of these in your feed, say for an upcoming event, you can choose to receive automatic reminders in the app, with Instagram notifying you three times, once the day before the event, then 15 minutes before the event, and once the event starts.
