Gallery app on devices Galaxy it got the function of remastering photos the year before last. The function is obviously important for the company, as it was included in the One UI 5.1 superstructure improvements. Now someone has discovered that it can have somewhat disturbing results.

Twitter user Apricot Lennon on the network shared original and remastered photo of her seven-month-old daughter. While the Samsung Gallery Remaster feature has overall positive results, in this case it "ran" and replaced the child's tongue with teeth. The end result is not only unrealistic, but also quite disturbing. However, at least the feature removed the nose noodle.

Website The Verge tried to replicate this problem using another photo of the child and came to a similar conclusion. However, in this case, the teeth were not so noticeable. It's not clear why the AI feature does this when it should be able to recognize that the image is of a young child who cannot have teeth at their age. Or Samsung simply didn't train her for this.

Fortunately for parents of young children, the Remaster feature is not automatically activated. It is necessary to look for it in the menu More when viewing photos in the Gallery, and if the user chooses to select this option, they have to wait a few seconds for the photo to be edited. Once the AI has processed the image, a Before/After slider will appear on it and the user can decide whether to prefer the original or the new version.
