The vast majority of us write e-mails every day - whether to our loved ones and friends, or perhaps as part of work or studies. But have you ever thought about what can actually be sent by e-mail? We will show just that in our article today.

Anyone who works with e-mail knows that you can add all sorts of attachments to messages, from documents to images or audio files. In very simple terms, you can send virtually any content via e-mail. In some cases, either your e-mail client or hosting can limit you to some extent, problems can also sometimes lie in the size of the selected attachment.

Email attachment size limit

When sending attachments of a larger volume, you will most often encounter limitations regarding the size of the attachment. The vast majority of e-mail service providers limit the maximum attachment size to 25MB, but this does not mean that it would not be possible to send larger attachments at all. For example, if you use Gmail, the service will automatically detect a larger attachment and offer you the option to send the recipient a link to download the attachment from cloud storage. If you know that the attachment you are sending will not fit within the limit, you can directly upload it to one of internet repositories. Another option is to compress the attachment into ZIP or RAR format.

Another recommendation

You should also be careful if you send a large number of messages in a short period of time, or when sending mass messages. As part of spam prevention, providers have various restrictions and measures in this direction, which are worth finding out. There are specific services for sending mass emails, for example for marketing purposes.
