Most smartphone manufacturers are constantly increasing the wireless charging speed of their devices. Some phones, such as the OnePlus 10 Pro, Vivo X90 Pro+ or Xiaomi 13 Pro, offer a staggering 50W wireless charging performance, charging from zero to one hundred in around half an hour. iPhones charge significantly slower this way, Apple however, it has improved in this area over the years (from 7,5 W on the iPhone 8/8 Plus to 15 W on the iPhone 12 and later, thanks to its own MagSafe technology).

Paradoxically, however, Samsung is going in the opposite direction. Did you even know that the Korean giant has reduced the wireless charging speed from 15W for the series Galaxy S22 at 10 W u Galaxy S23 when using XNUMXrd party wireless chargers? All three phones in the series Galaxy The S23 supports 15W wireless charging. However, they can only be charged at this speed when using Samsung's wireless charger. If you use a third-party wireless charger, the charging power will drop to 10W. U series Galaxy This was not the case with the S22. Even with Samsung chargers, however Galaxy The S23 charges wirelessly longer than last year.

Website PhoneArena tested the wireless charging speeds of u Galaxy S22 to Galaxy S23 and the results are surprising to say the least. The S23 Ultra, which has the same battery capacity and charging speed as the S22 Ultra, took 0 minutes longer to charge from 100-39% than its predecessor (2hr 37min vs 1hr 58min), despite both phones using the same 15W Samsung wireless charger (EP-P2400).

According to the results published by the website, it seems that Samsung u Galaxy The S23 has capped its wireless charging speed at under 15 watts, although the range is charged by its own 15W charger. The Korean giant may have taken this step to reduce the heat that is generated during wireless charging (perhaps to increase battery health). Even so, the drop in wireless charging performance below 15 watts may be disappointing for many, especially when the new "flagships" have more powerful cooling system than last year's.
