Last year, Samsung made a major announcement. He recognized the importance of software updates and suddenly became a leader in this area, surpassing even the system creator Android Google. Recently, when choosing their devices, customers can also consider this aspect, i.e. the lifespan of their device with regard to the software side. Accordingly, the company revealed that some models will receive up to four operating system updates Android and five years of security patches.

Nevertheless, the company surprises by announcing extended support for the operating system Android and security updates even for affordable devices, not just the top portfolio. Recently, it appeared on some markets, for example Galaxy A24, which will also receive a full four system updates Android and five years of security updates, which is identical to the manufacturer's flagship smartphones. This clearly indicates that the company is focusing on cheap devices, which make up its significant sales, and with this it wants to support them even more in the current period of declining market.

How will it affect you?

There are a large number of users who buy affordable smartphones. They don't want to spend on the manufacturer's flagships, if only because they won't use those features. But should software support be cut just for that reason? From Samsung's point of view, this may extend the interval between the purchase of a new phone by the customer himself, but on the other hand, it is a clear marketing move. So if you buy an Аčko today, you will last four years with it, which may be the ideal interval to replace it with a newer device. But you will always have an up-to-date system. If you extend the interval to 5 years, your device will still be updated with security patches.

The only problem here is that when Google releases a new one Android, it is clear that Samsung will provide it with its superstructure first to the most equipped models. Only then does it proceed based on a clearly defined hierarchy, so yes, you will have to wait a bit longer, but you will see (after about two months). However, it is quite possible that the company will shorten this period even further.

The main reason for the slower rollout of Samsung updates is that the company does not create its own operating system and is dependent only on Google. The latter must first release the update, only then will Samsung receive it and then start debugging it with its One UI superstructure. Below is a list of Samsung smartphones that have been promised up to 4 updates Androidu, which is equal to four years. On top of that, Samsung provides one more year of security updates.
