Efforts to cooperate between the big players in the field of technology often encounter different approaches and opinions on solving specific issues and ultimately do not bring the expected results. In this case it is different. Samsung supports new technology from companies Apple and Google, which aims to prevent unwanted tracking using location devices.

Object tracking tools such as Galaxy SmartTags are quite useful for finding lost or stolen items, but they can also be dangerous if misused to track people without their consent. The largest giants on the market want to prevent this within the framework of cooperation, Apple and Google by introducing new privacy protection technology, which is now also interested in Korea's Samsung.

SOCIETY Apple announced that it has teamed up with Google to create what it describes as an "industry standard for dealing with unwanted tracking." So the two companies want to implement a new standard that will allow users to be alerted to possible tracking using AirTag or other Bluetooth tracking devices. It currently offers Apple way to stop unwanted tracking, but it is limited to apple devices only. An app was also released Tracker Detector for smartphones with the system Android, but again it can only detect AirTag and the application needs to be started, so the process is not automatic. There is clearly a need to create a cross-platform service that can detect unwanted location trackers in the background.

The result of the cooperation between Apple and Google will allow devices with different operating systems, such as phones and tablets with Android, prevent unwanted tracking. This feature could also appear in devices in the future Galaxy. The companies submitted their tracking detection mechanism as an Internet proposal via IETF, which stands for Internet Engineering Task Force.

As already mentioned, Samsung has also shown interest in this new initiative and its subsequent implementation and expressed support for the draft specification. Other brands with location-tracking devices in their portfolio, including Chipolo, Eufy, Pebblebee or Tile, are also interested in the technology, and it is therefore very likely that they could also support this feature in the future. With the advent of this certainly welcome improvement for devices with the system Android a iOS is calculated until the end of 2023.
