These days, almost every premium smartphone has three or four rear cameras, each serving a different purpose. However, in the past, there were "flagships" that only had one rear camera and still managed to capture excellent quality images and make history. One of them was Samsung Galaxy S9 from 2018. Let's take a closer look at its rear camera.

Galaxy S9, who was together with his sibling Galaxy The S9+ introduced in February 2018 was equipped with a Samsung S5K2L3 photo sensor with a resolution of 12,2 MPx. The great advantage of the sensor was the variable focal length f/1.5–2.4, which enabled the phone to take high-quality photos in poor lighting conditions.

In addition, the camera had an optical image stabilization system, which reduced the blurring of images taken in low light or during movement, and a phase detection autofocus system. It supported shooting videos in resolutions up to 4K at 60fps or slow-motion videos at 960 fps. As for the front camera, it had a resolution of 8 MPx and a lens aperture of f/1.7. Samsung also implemented an excellent photography section in the phone, which made it easy to take high-quality photos in various situations. Galaxy The S9 thus proved that a high-end smartphone does not need to have multiple rear cameras to be able to produce excellent images.

Galaxy However, the S9 was not the only such smartphone. For example, in 2016, the OnePlus 3T and Motorola Moto Z Force phones were launched, which proved that the direct ratio "the more cameras, the better photos" does not really apply here. Even nowadays, we can meet smartphones that are sufficient with only one camera. He is, for example iPhone SE from last year, whose camera performs well above average.
