When it comes to sleep tracking, few wearable manufacturers can match Fitbit. Those who enjoy running may want Garmin smartwatches for their great sports metrics, and tech-savvy users may want Galaxy Watch for better applications. But when it comes to sleep tracking, Fitbit watches are the best.

It looks like Samsung has taken notice because this week he announced new sleep tracking features on the watch Galaxy Watch with the system Wear OSs that are very similar to those offered by Fitbit. The Korean giant even added an animal icon to the sleep tracker, copied from Fitbit's own sleep profile.

These and other features will come with the One UI 5 build Watch, which will be built on the system Wear OS 4. The new superstructure will first "land" on the watches of the series Galaxy Watch6, which could be staged at the end July. Advice Galaxy Watch5 to Watch4 will be waiting for her later. This month, however, their users will be able to sign up for the beta program and try out the add-on.

Sleep tracking update to Galaxy Watch

What new functions the new add-on in the field of sleep monitoring will bring can be seen in the image below. You can see that the numerical sleep score is now paired with the verbal score. In this case, a sleep score of 82 is marked as "good" and accompanied by a picture of a penguin.

The picture of the penguin is interesting. Fitbit's sleep profile uses animals to represent six different sleep styles. At the end of each month, users are assigned an animal profile that represents their sleep habits over the past 30 days. Although a penguin is not featured in these profiles, penguins are known to take more than one nap during the day.

The new sleep tracker also gives users suggestions on how to improve their sleep habits. These are personalized based on their sleep history.

The main difference between these new sleep tracking features on Galaxy Watch and the ones offered by Fitbit are money: Fitbit hides many of its sleep metrics behind the Fitbit Premium paid service Paywall. Samsung doesn't have a subscription service for these metrics, so they will almost certainly be available to everyone for free.

Other features of the One UI 5 superstructure Watch

In addition to the new sleep tracking features, Samsung also announced some other news in One UI 5 Watch. One of them is personalized heart rate zones. The heart rate number is now divided into zones representing "warm-up", "fat burning", "cardio", etc.

One UI 5 Watch in addition, it brings improved safety features. When fall detection is triggered, users will be able to directly communicate with the emergency line. Additionally, fall detection will be turned on by default for older users.
