You have probably come across the term "bank identity" at some point. To put it simply, a bank identity is a form of digital identity verification. It is available to almost everyone who has an account in one of the main domestic banks and who also has internet banking. How can the bank identity be used?

Bank identity is, among other things, one of the ways to communicate remotely and via the Internet with various institutions, both with state administration bodies and with private companies and service providers. It is a part of digitization that is intended to make life easier for citizens, save work and reduce the time they would have to spend traveling to the relevant offices, standing in queues and handling relevant matters in person. In the Czech Republic, the bank identity institute has been operating since 2021, and within the framework of the state administration, you can prove your bank identity, for example, on the Citizen's Portal, on the websites of the Czech Social Welfare and Labor Office and in many other places, whether when filling out a tax return or when making various requests .

Bank identity

Establishing a bank identity is relatively easy, fast, and above all, it is completely free - all you need is to have Internet banking set up. At the same time, Bank Identity is one of the most secure ways of verifying your identity on the Internet, and when using it, your personal data is perfectly protected. Most banks activate the bank identity automatically for clients who opened an account in person, but some may require a personal visit to a branch.
