Yesterday, Google's developer conference Google I/O 2023 took place, where the American technology giant announced a number of innovations, especially those related to artificial intelligence. One of them is the integration of AI into its search engine and an AI testing platform called Google Labs.

Google announced through its vice president of engineering Cathy Edwards at the Google I/O 2023 conference that it will integrate artificial intelligence into its search engine. He gave the example of a family deciding between holiday destinations, in which case Google's search engine would collect all informace, that he can gather, and summarized the advantages and disadvantages of each location.

Users will then have the option to "ask a follow-up question" or tap suggested questions. Asking these questions will move the user to a new conversational mode. You can see everything in the video above.

Of course, AI won't just be limited to vacation destinations — Edwards says it can narrow down the choices for someone looking to buy a commuter bike, for example. He will "feed" him deals, reviews and blog posts to get as much information as possible. The redesigned search engine will also remember previous searches, so if the user strays a bit from the starting point, the AI will still be able to follow their train of thought.

In addition to AI news, Google also unveiled a related platform called Labs. It is a kind of central hub that offers links to various company services on which it tests artificial intelligence. Users can also participate in the testing, but at the moment this option is reserved only for those living in the US. Among other things, they can sign up to test the improved search engine.
