Android will soon become the backbone of a new network that can find smart locators and devices using billions of smartphones nearby. The Samsung SmartThings Find and services work on the same principle Apple find my.

The Find My Device network, which Google unveiled at the Google I/O 2023 developer conference on Wednesday, builds on the existing androidov application of the same name. The nearly 10-year-old app helps users find lost smartphones, smartwatches and, in recent years, headphones. The new version of the app will work with locators and select headphones to do more than just record your last known location. Help androidof nearby phones will be able to report the last known location in near real-time to help track down lost devices around the world.

Google said the new network will work with existing Pixel Buds, and that through software updates it will also work with headphones from Sony and JBL. Since Google, unlike Samsung or Apple, does not offer its own smart locators, users Androidu will be able to use new locators from popular brands such as Chipolo, Tile and Pebblebee.

Specifically, these locators are:

  • Chipolo: Chipolo One Point, Chipolo Card Point
  • Pebblebee: Pebblebee Tag, Pebblebee Card, Pebblebee Clip

The mentioned locators are not compatible with each other. They only work with the Find My Device network and the manufacturer's app. As for the company Tile, it has not yet introduced its new locators that will work with the new network.
