Last week, the Google I/O 2023 event took place, where the company presented additional features of the system Android 14, although she hardly marked it directly here. Anyway, Google has revealed that it will bring Ultra HDR technology to the device with this upcoming system, among other things. That's why many Samsung fans were wondering if this feature would also make it to smartphones and tablets with their future update. Samsung has now offered some information about it, although it hasn't answered exactly yet.

The moderator of the company's official forum for the camera section revealed that the Ultra HDR system Android 14 isn't just a camera feature, it also requires the device to support an HDR display. Most smartphone cameras today can capture HDR images, but many devices do not save them in this format. Because the feature requires the phone to be running Android captured images and videos in HDR and then displayed them with the same dynamic range on an HDR display, this feature may be limited to upper mid-range and high-end phones.

Ultra HDR allows the camera to capture an HDR image and save it in 10-bit format, whereupon the phone's basic Gallery app can display that image or video in just that 10-bit format on an HDR-capable screen. Only some phones in the series Galaxy And and all the latest phones in the range Galaxy Note, Galaxy With a Galaxy Z are equipped with such displays capable of displaying such content and logically therefore only these devices can function of the system Android 14 get. However, Samsung still hasn't officially specified which phones and tablets these will be, perhaps everything will become clear after the beta version of the One UI 6.0 update is released.
