On May 18, Google celebrated Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2023. On this occasion, the American technology giant announced a number of new accessibility features. They will be available for Android, Chrome and other services.

The most notable of all the new accessibility features is the extension of Live Transcript to androidtablets including those from Samsung. It was previously available at androidphones, in the Chrome browser and in the video communication service Google Meet. Function on androidtablets will also get a new "subtitle window". Another novelty is the extension of the ability to respond to live transcripts by typing, which is read aloud at the other end, to phones with Androidem, including smartphones Galaxy. In addition, the Pixel 4, 5, and other devices are getting support for live subtitles in French, Italian, and German.

In addition, Google is preparing a new feature for the Lookout app that will use the Google DeepMind visual language model. The feature will help describe images that have no alt text. In addition, users will be able to ask various questions about the image either by typing or using voice commands.

Another innovation is the placement of the barrier-free location icon in a more prominent place in Google Maps. Accessibility improvements have also been made to Chrome, which can now detect typos in URLs and suggest web pages based on corrections. The Talkback function in the browser has also received an upgrade, which can now analyze the grid of cards with support for group cards, mass actions on a card and reordering.

Last but not least, Google significantly accelerated text-to-speech conversion in the upcoming Wear OS 4. After its release they will be on Wear OS 3 followed by two new sound and display modes.
