Are you about to buy a new or used car and are you wondering what all needs to be arranged before you hit the road for the first time, and whether it is possible to register the car from your phone? In the following instructions, we will briefly and clearly introduce you to all the basic requirements.

How to register a used car

Registering the car is a necessary step if you want to drive your new car regularly. According to the law, you have ten days to register from the moment the transfer of ownership took place - i.e. from the payment for the car, from the valid signing of the purchase contract, or from the moment the court decided on the transfer of ownership. Registration must take place at an office with extended jurisdiction, but the good news is that it does not have to be an office in your place of permanent residence.

The administrative fee is 800 crowns, in addition to the money, you and the original owner must also prepare identity documents, a green card, a large and a small technical license, proof of vehicle purchase and, if applicable, a certificate of payment of environmental tax. Ideally, both the original and the new owner should be involved in the transfer. If necessary, however, an officially certified power of attorney will suffice.

How to register a new car

Registering a new car is of course much easier, and in the vast majority of cases the dealer will take care of it. If you would like to take care of registering a new car yourself, prepare your identity document, large technical license or COC sheet, green card and proof of vehicle purchase. Entrepreneurs will also need a trade certificate, a notarized extract from the Commercial Register or a concession document when registering a used or a new car.
