According to the latest data from Google, it is currently Android 13 installed on approximately 15% of active devices worldwide. But version 11 is still the most widely used.

Google regularly collects statistical data on the number of devices around the world running a particular version of the operating system Android, or those that joined the Google Play store during the given seven-day period. The statistics are then offered to developers via the application Android Studio, while the data is of great importance for choosing the lowest version of the system that the selected application supports. Informace uses a similar type Apple to compare the installation of system updates iOS to the device.

In recent years, compared to the past, Google has reduced the frequency with which it updates the chart, which now corresponds to a quarterly periodicity. So far in 2023, the company has brought new numbers in January, April and now June. This is the data shown in the graph Android Studies from May 30, 2023.

Given that there is not a very large gap between the periods, naturally there was no significant rearrangement of the share of individual versions either. The measurement resulted in an overall expected increase in share Androidat 13, from 12,1% in April to 14,7% in June, while Android 12, 11 and 10 saw a slight decrease. Despite the decline, however Android 11 retained the top spot in market share as it is installed on 23,1% of devices globally.

Interestingly, the only other version of the system Android, whose numbers rose between April and June, is Android Oreo, which moved from 6,7% to 8,3%, though it fell short of January's 9,5% level.

System version share stratification iOS is somewhat different. It runs on most iPhones iOS 16. Data from January 2023 shows that 81% of Apple phones have the version installed iOS 16, followed by a 15% share of the previous version iOS 15 and the remaining 4% belong to earlier versions of Apple's mobile operating system.

We'll see how the regrouping happens with the start Androidu 14, whose arrival can be expected already at the end of this summer. More about the new iOS 17 we will find out today as part of the WWDC 2023 conference, while the deployment of the public version will probably take place traditionally in September with the introduction of new iPhones.
