Google released Android 14 in early October, Samsung began releasing its One UI 6.0 build to the first eligible devices during November. To date, a real lot of devices have received the update, which has learned many new tricks. You don't know what kind? Well, we'll tell you here. 

The list of changes and news is quite comprehensive. The biggest one is certainly the redesigned quick launch panel, but a lot has also happened in Weather, Camera, Gallery, Photo Editor or Calendar or Reminders. But which devices can actually enjoy the news?

Quick launch panel

New button layout
The Quick Launch panel has a new layout that makes it easier to access the most frequently used functions. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth now have their own dedicated buttons at the top of the screen, while visual features like Dark Mode and Eye Comfort have been moved to the bottom. Additional quick setting buttons appear in the customizable area in the middle.

Instant access to the full quick launch panel
By default, a compact quick launch bar with notifications appears when you drag from the top of the screen. Swipe down again to hide the notification and show the expanded quick launch panel. If you turn on quick access to quick settings, you can display the expanded quick launch panel by simply swiping from the top right of the screen. Swipe down from the left side to view notifications.

Quick access to brightness control
The brightness control bar now appears by default in the compact quick launch panel when you swipe down from the top of the screen once for faster and easier brightness adjustments.

Improved display of album covers
When playing music or videos, album art covers the entire media controller on the notification panel if the app playing the music or video provides album art.

Improved notification layout
Each notification now appears as a separate tab, making it easier to recognize individual notifications.

More prominent notification icons
You can use the same colored icons that are used for each app on the home screen and the Apps screen. You can turn this on in Settings.

Sort notifications by time
You can now change your notification settings to order by time instead of priority, so your most recent notifications are always at the top.

Changing the clock position
Now you have more freedom to move the clock on the lock screen to the position of your choice.

Home screen

Simplified icon labels
App icon labels are now limited to one line for a cleaner, simpler look. Removed the words “ from some app namesGalaxy” and “Samsung” to make them shorter and easier to scan.

Dragging with 2 hands
Start dragging app icons or widgets on the home screen with one hand, then use your other hand to move to the spot on the screen where you want to place them.

multitasking

Leaving pop-ups open
Instead of minimizing pop-ups when you go to the Recents screen, pop-ups now stay open after you leave the Recents screen, so you can continue what you were working on.

Samsung keyboard

New emoji design
The emojis that appear in your messages, social media posts, and anywhere else on your phone have been updated with a new design.

Content sharing

Image previews
When you share images from any app, an image preview appears at the top of the Sharing panel to give you one more chance to see your images before sharing.

Weather

New weather widget
The Weather widget provides more information about local weather conditions. You can see when severe thunderstorms, snow, rain and other events are forecast.

They are now available in the Weather app informace about snowfall, phases and times of the moon, atmospheric pressure, visibility distance, dew point and wind direction.

Interactive map display
Swipe to move around the map and tap a location to view local weather conditions. The map will help you find it informace about the weather, even if you don't know the name of the city.

Improved illustrations
The illustrations in the Weather widget and app have been improved to provide better informace about current weather conditions. The background colors also change depending on the time of day.

Camera

Simple and intuitive design
The overall layout of the Camera app has been simplified. Quick settings buttons on the preview screen have been reworked to make them easier to understand.

Custom camera accessories
You can add your own camera widgets to your home screen. You can set each gadget to launch in a specific shooting mode and save images to an album of your choice.

More watermark alignment options
You can now choose whether your watermark appears at the top or bottom of your photos.

Easy document scanning
The Scan Document function has been separated from the Scene Optimizer, so you can scan documents even when the Scene Optimizer is turned off. New Auto Scan allows you to scan documents automatically whenever you take an image of a document. After scanning the document, you will be taken to an editing screen where you can rotate and align the document as you wish.

Quick access to resolution settings
There is now a resolution button in the quick settings at the top of the screen in Photo and Pro modes, so you can quickly change the resolution of the photos you take.

Easier video size options
Clicking on the video size button now shows a pop-up window that makes it easier to see all the options and choose the right ones.

Keeping the images flat
When dividing lines are turned on in the Camera settings, a level line will now appear in the middle of the screen when using the rear camera in all modes except Panorama. The line will move to show if your image is level with the ground.

Quality optimization
You can choose between 3 levels of optimization for the quality of the captured images. Select Maximum for the highest quality images. Select Minimum to take pictures as quickly as possible. You can also choose Medium to get the best balance between speed and quality.

New Auto FPS setting for videos
Auto FPS can help you record clearer videos in low light conditions. Auto FPS now has 3 options. You can turn it off, use it only for 30 fps videos, or use it for both 30 fps and 60 fps videos.

Disable camera switching by swiping up/down
Swipe up or down to switch between the front and rear cameras. If you're worried about unwanted swipes, you can turn this off in Settings.

Easier to apply effects
Filter and face effects now use a wheel instead of a slider, making it easier to adjust more precisely with one hand.

Gallery

Quick adjustments in detailed view
When viewing a picture or video, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the detail view. This screen now provides quick access to effects and editing functions that you can use immediately.

Dragging with 2 hands
Touch the pictures and videos with one hand to hold them, and with the other hand navigate to the album where you want to place them.

Saving cut-out images as stickers
When you crop something from an image, you can easily save it as a sticker to use later when editing images or videos.

Improved story display
When viewing a story, a thumbnail will appear after swiping from the bottom of the screen. You can add or remove images and videos from your story in the thumbnail view.

Photo editor

Improved layout
The new Tools menu makes it easier to find the editing functions you need. The Straighten and Perspective options have been combined in the Transform menu.

Editing decorations after saving
You can now make changes to drawings, stickers, and text you've added to a photo even after it's been saved.

Return and redo
Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Now you can easily revert transforms, filters and tones back to their original state or edit them again.

Drawing on custom stickers
When creating your own stickers, you can now use drawing tools to make your stickers even more personal and unique.

New text backgrounds and styles
When adding text to your photo, you can choose from several new backgrounds and styles to help you achieve the perfect look.

Studio (Video Editor)

More powerful video editing
Studio is a new project-based video editor that allows for more complex and powerful editing. You can access the Studio app from the Pop-up menu in Gallery or add an icon to your home screen for faster access.

Timeline layout
Studio allows you to view the entire project as a timeline containing multiple video clips. The multi-layer structure allows you to easily add clips, stickers, captions and other objects and adjust their position and length.

Saving and editing projects
You can also save unfinished movie projects and continue editing them later.

Video player

Improved layout
Controlling your video player is now easier than ever. Buttons with similar functions have been grouped together and the Play button has been moved to the center of the screen.

Improved playback speed control
Choose from several video playback speeds between 0,25x and 2,0x. Speed ​​controls are now easier to access with dedicated buttons instead of a slider.

Samsung health

New home screen look
The Samsung Health home screen has been completely redesigned. More information is displayed, with bold font and colors making it easy to see the information you need most. Your latest exercise results are displayed at the top of the screen, and additional feedback is provided on your sleep score, as well as your daily goals for steps, activity, water and food.

Custom sized water glasses
You can now adjust the size of the glasses in the Samsung Health water tracker to match the size of the glass you usually drink from.

The new schedule view brings upcoming events, tasks and reminders together in chronological order.

You can now view and add reminders in the Calendar app without opening the Reminders app.

Improved reminder list display
The main list view has been redesigned. You can manage categories at the top of the screen. Below the categories, your reminders will appear organized by date. The layout of reminders containing images and web links has also been improved.

New reminder categories
The Location category contains reminders that alert you when you are in a specific location, and the No Alert category contains reminders that do not provide any alerts.

More options for creating reminders
When you share content to the Reminder app, you get full editing options before creating a reminder. You can also take pictures with the camera while creating reminders.

Creating all-day reminders
Now you can create reminders for the whole day and customize the time you want to be notified about them.

Playing videos in the background
Continue playing video audio even if you exit the current tab or exit the Internet application.

Improved tab list display for large screens
When using the Internet on a large screen, such as a tablet in landscape view or Samsung DeX, the list of cards is displayed in 2 columns, so you can see more information on the screen at the same time.

Move bookmarks and tabs with two hands
With one hand, touch and hold the bookmark or tab you want to move, and with the other hand, navigate to the bookmark folder or tab group you want to move it to.

Resize and extract text from pinned content
When you pin an image to the screen, you can now resize it or extract text from it.

Magnified view
When you select an area of ​​the screen, a magnified view appears so you can start and end your selection at the perfect spot.

You can switch to Bixby text call at any time, even when a call is already in progress.

Modes and routines

Changing the appearance of the Lock screen
Set different lock screens with your own background and clock style while driving, working, exercising and more. Try a dark background for sleep mode or a soothing background for relaxation mode. When you customize the lock screen for a mode, you'll see this background whenever the mode is on.

You can now run the cmdlet while the application is playing media.

New look and feel
The Smart Suggestions widget has been redesigned with a layout that better matches the other icons on the home screen.

More customization
You can now adjust the transparency and choose between a white or black background. You can also set apps to be excluded from suggestions.

Search engine

Quick actions for apps
When an app appears in the search results, you can touch and hold the app to get quick access to actions you can take with the app. For example, if you search for the Calendar app, you'll see buttons to add an event or search your calendar. An app action will also appear separately in search results if you search for the action name instead of the app.

My files

Freeing up storage space
Recommendation tabs will appear to help you free up storage space. My Files will recommend you delete unnecessary files, give you tips for setting up cloud storage, and let you know which apps on your phone are using up the most storage space.

Integrated basket with Gallery and Voice recorder
My Files, Gallery and Voice Recorder Trash have been merged into one. When you open the Recycle Bin under My Files, you'll see all deleted files, images, videos, and voice recordings, along with options to restore or permanently delete.

Copy files with 2 hands
Touch and hold the file you want to copy with one hand, then use the other hand to navigate to the folder you want to copy it to.

Samsung Pass

More secure login with codes
Use codes to sign in to supported apps and websites. Unlike passwords, your code is only stored on your phone and cannot be revealed in a breach of website security. The codes also protect you from phishing attacks because they only work on the website or app where they were registered.

Settings

Smarter Airplane mode
If you turn on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth while Airplane mode is on, the phone remembers it. The next time you use Airplane mode, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth will stay on instead of turning off.

Easier access to battery settings
Battery settings now has its own top-level settings menu, so you can easily check battery usage and manage battery settings.

Block security threats
Get an extra level of protection for your apps and data. Automatic blocking prevents the installation of unknown apps, checks for malware and blocks malicious commands from being sent to your phone via USB cable.

Facilitation

Visibility improvements are easier to find
The Voice Assistance and Visibility Enhancement menus have been merged into one Visibility Enhancement menu for faster and easier access.

New zoom options
Customize how the zoom window appears. You can choose full screen, partial screen or enable switching between the two options.

Customize the thickness of the cursor
You can now increase the thickness of the cursor that appears when editing text to make it more visible.
