Just today in the Czech Republic, the mobile citizen is launching. We are thus entering a new era of resident verification. Thanks to mobile phone payments and smart watches, we carry wallets primarily because of our ID cards, which is now changing. The eDoklady application will be enough for us.

From today, i.e. from January 20, 2024, you can prove yourself in selected places only with a passport uploaded in the eDoklady application. The classic physical ID card remains valid, you can just leave it at home with peace of mind.

eDocuments

The eDoklady application will now serve as a digital wallet for your documents. At first, it will store the ID card, but later it is planned to add other ID cards, so do not confuse the eDoklady application with eObčanka, because the latter is used for electronic identification and authentication of ID cards with a chip issued after 1 July 7. If you are not sure about anything, visit the official website, where you can find the download link.

You install the application on a device with Androidem 11 or iOS 15 and newer system. Internet connection is required to install the application, register (via Citizen Identity), update data or verify at the counter. The proof itself will now take place offline.

A citizen on a mobile phone and its benefits

  • The app gives you control over who gets access to your data and protects personal data by allowing agencies and businesses to see only what they need to see.
  • The citizen on the mobile phone is safe because eDocuments cannot be falsified and the data is encrypted.
  • The application includes an additional lock with biometric data.
  • Everything happens on the device, so there is no need to worry about remote hacking.
  • You do not need to carry a classic plastic card with you (it is still valid).
