The renowned DXOMark test compiles a ranking of smartphones according to various measurements of their qualities. Cameras are the main thing here, but they also evaluate audio, display or battery. In the first, the current flag Galaxy The S24 Ultra is a complete failure, but on the contrary, it excels in the display.

Let's start with the good news: Galaxy The S24 Ultra has the best display of all DXO-rated smartphones. It earned a score of 155, followed by the Pixel 154 with 8 points and fourth with 152 points Galaxy From Fold5. In DXO, I like the performance of the display with its good readability, especially in the outdoor environment, which is said to be the best in its class. Interestingly, despite the problems that users complain about, the DXO scores great vivid and pleasant colors in all conditions. The result would be even better if the display did not emit so much brightness during video playback and, conversely, did not suffer from a lack of brightness in indoor lighting scenarios.

And now the bad news: Galaxy The S24 Ultra ranked as high as 18th in DXOMark's photo quality ranking. It received only 144 points, when it was overtaken not only by the iPhone 14 Pro, but also by the iPhone 15, which has only two cameras and lacks any telephoto lens. However, DXOMark has a problem with Samsung phone cameras in general, as no Ultra made it into the top 10. Although DXO praises the vivid and pleasant brightness of photos in any conditions, ideal exposure and white balance or good details and effective video stabilization, there are also shortcomings.

The problem is that the results suffer from a lot of noise, especially where there are too many shadows and generally in the corners of photos, as well as for video taken in low light conditions. I also didn't like the small depth of field, the delay between pressing the shutter button and taking a picture in different conditions, and the slow focus response. Does Samsung have any catching up to do? Absolutely yes, on the other hand, it is a truly universal photographic device. The DXO metrics themselves may not be ideal, and in addition, the test is questioned by many in that it lags certain manufacturers.

Moreover, it is quite a paradox that even so Galaxy The S24 Ultra received a gold medal award in the photography section, which signifies the best experience in its class without compromising on quality. After all, the device also has this in the case of the display, where it makes sense on the contrary. In the case of photography, however, it contradicts itself quite a bit with the not entirely good rating.
