Samsung has a wide reach in terms of its product portfolio that it sells, and that's not even mentioning its other activities, which are truly numerous. In its menu, we can find, for example, soundbars or wireless headphones. Samsung really sucks when it comes to sound. And now it will be even better.

In the field of truly wireless headphones, Samsung is a popular name thanks to its range Galaxy Buds, when these headphones are considered one of the best. However, their perfect tuning is based on the famous "Harman Curve" from Harman International, which is owned by Samsung Electronics. In addition, Samsung is now strengthening Harman's audio technology by purchasing patents from the popular American audio company Knowles. He bought 107 of them straight away. The magazine informs about it TheElec.

Knowles is a popular brand in the world of personal audio and makes some of the top audio transducers used in in-ear monitors (IEMs). Informace the "purchase" was confirmed by data from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (PTO). Although Knowles also has its two patents registered in South Korea, Samsung did not buy them. He was particularly interested in sound processing and noise suppression technologies, when it is obvious that he would like to improve the series Galaxy Buds. However, it is true that Samsung has already used Knowles audio technology, for example, in its Family Hub refrigerators.

Unrivaled Samsung in sound?

In case you didn't register, last year Samsung bought the Roon platform, which dealt with audiophile-level music streaming and management. By the way, Roon works with almost all manufacturers of Hi-Fi music equipment and the corresponding applications for all operating systems and platforms.

Thanks to Harman, which also includes brands like AKG, JBL and Infinity Audio, together with the Roon platform, Samsung has everything it needs to build a formidable audio platform that will certainly be the envy of Apple. As far as services are concerned, Samsung lags far behind, and it is precisely in sound that it has enormous potential. Somewhat senselessly, we are still waiting for its own speaker, be it just Bluetooth or something smart.

So let's hope for a quick and exemplary implementation of new options into the company's final products, and not only that Galaxy Buds, but also phones, tablets and TVs. It is in the segment of TWS headphones that it will really have to be done this year, because Apple should be preparing a complete refresh of its AirPods line.
