Galaxy The S24 Ultra is currently Samsung's best smartphone with a classic design, and quite possibly the best ever Android phone. At first glance, he looks very similar to his two predecessors, but he is different, very different, and not just in how intelligent he is.

If I look back a bit, Galaxy S22 Ultra set a new direction. In one case, of course, design, in the other it was about the fact that it actually integrated the Note series. Its only and major problem was the Exynos 2200 chip. Galaxy The S23 Ultra did not bring that much new. Sure, we got a 200MPx camera, but the main thing was a Qualcomm chip instead of Samsung's own. Now here we have Galaxy S24Ultra, in which Samsung really put together the best it can do.

Although Samsung is trying to push its own Galaxy AI, and it makes sense because it clearly sets it apart from the rest, one would slowly overlook everything else. It's definitely not enough, because you're still primarily buying a phone, not a personal artificial intelligence. There is still a long way to go, because even though the options look promising Galaxy AI impressive, they only work "sort of" so far.

Titanium design

The phone needs to grab your attention. Take a look at how long you hold your phone in your hand and work with it every day. Now imagine that you are looking at something that you don't really like for that long. Samsung already tried the look with the S22 Ultra, where it worked, so it integrated it to a certain extent across the portfolio. Even so, the S23 Ultra stood out especially with its curved display. Now, to everyone's delight, Samsung has finally understood that the curved display is simply stupid.

Processing Galaxy The S24 Ultra is at the highest level. However, you may only appreciate the titanium frame when you drop your phone (the interior is still aluminum, however). Visually, they are not too different, although it is true that the previous generations had polished aluminum, here it is matte titanium. Whatever his features, he looks good. Very well. So the sides are still rounded, thanks to which the phone holds great, the top and bottom are straight, the corners are not so sharp.

I have two complaints about the design, the first of which is directed to the upper strip for shielding the antennas. Makes the phone asymmetrical. Paradoxically, it doesn't matter in the lower right, but here it would be desirable to move it either to the center, or simply put a second strip there, like the one below. Of course, the cover will solve it, but it's a shame. After all, the cover will also solve the second problem - why do we always have to carry the text ballast under the company's brand, when others have already given up on it? Why do I need to have the registered office address, IMEI, etc. here?

The display is the best

Three cheers. The 6,8" display is finally flat, so you can use its entire surface with the S Pen. I hate the WOW effect that the curvature could have caused in someone. It was pointless. The display is now giant, flat and simply fantastic. All models Galaxy The S24 boasts a maximum brightness of 2 nits, a bright step up from the 600 nits of the S1+ and S750 Ultra, which helps when using the phone in bright sunlight. The frames are then really thin and the same on all sides. Adaptive refresh rate, of course, still 23 to 23 Hz. In addition, there is a new Always On display that can also display wallpaper. It's an Apple rip-off, but it just looks good.

Samsung also introduced the Adaptive Hue feature, which uses the front and rear cameras to analyze the surrounding lighting conditions and adjust the screen colors accordingly to make everything look more natural. Sure, we have a color vibrancy issue here, but that will be fixed with an update. The glass used is Gorilla Glass Armor, making its debut here. It stands out not only for its durability (which should be up to 4 times greater), but also for reducing glare by up to 75%. And it really works. Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on Galaxy The S24 Ultra works more or less the same as the one on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which means it's fast and tries to be very accurate as well. But you know how, it's also about fingers.

Precise performance, first-class durability

Let you buy Galaxy S24 Ultra with us, across the sea or directly across the ocean, everywhere will be the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 specially modified just for the series Galaxy S24. It makes a difference if you buy basic models from us Galaxy S24 and S24+, which are equipped with the Exynos 2400 chip. The chip offers top performance, i.e. the best ever, which Androidyou can currently find That's not the problem, the problem is how the company went about optimizing it.

It doesn't matter if you're playing a demanding game or streaming a long video, recording it or still on social media. Just like if you play with the AI. The enlarged evaporator chamber keeps the temperature in the bar. Of course the device will heat up and of course you'll feel it, but it's nothing like it was with the iPhone 15 Pro Max. It's cool, it's normal and it doesn't affect the functionality of the device. And if so, the processes are happening so that you don't even notice them.

It is thanks to the Snapdragon that Wi-Fi 7 is also available in the device. It may be useless for now, but wait a few years and you will be thankful. Galaxy S24Ultra you will be able to enjoy it for at least 7 years, i.e. at least that long support for the series is promised by Samsung, and hopefully Wi-Fi 7 will be more widespread than it is now. Exynos models are out of luck in this regard.

Galaxy The S23 Ultra was the first phone in the line to make good use of its 5000mAh battery. The efficiency of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and software optimization allowed the phone to last up to two days. The durability of the new Ultra is also fantastic. You can get a day and a half even with medium load if you have the Always On display wallpaper turned off. In the case of a full team, you will have a complete overview of the day. Wired charging is still only 45W, so you can reach 60 to 65% in half an hour, and 100% in just over an hour. A big pity is in connection with the absence of Qi2. The wireless is of the Qi standard with 15 W.

Cameras and a major novelty

Were you also worried about Samsung cutting the 10x optical zoom and only getting 5x instead? Worries were unnecessary, because the truth is that the 5x zoom is really more usable for most scenes. And if so, the 10x remained. In addition, it should be qualitatively improved, even if it is calculated from the 50MPx sensor. In the end, it sometimes offers a sharper and cleaner image, but other times it fails to achieve the correct exposure.

The possibility to photograph the moon still remains. The results are actually the same, but fine-tuning through AI is also to blame. Thanks to the increase in megapixels, the 5x camera can also be used to record 8K videos with 5x to 10x zoom. It's also worth noting that Samsung is the only manufacturer that provides 8K recording at 30 fps - other brands still limit it to 24 fps.

Not much has actually changed with the main, ultra-wide-angle, and triple telephoto lens, the improved software is the main focus here. So the only major hardware change is the switch to a 5x optical periscope telephoto lens from a 10x periscope camera. But you can already switch between the phone's cameras on the fly while recording 4K video at 60 fps, there's a Dual Rec mode that lets you record videos with two lenses at the same time. Single Take works with any rear lens. Shutter lag has also been minimized.

The main camera is without compromise, so clearly during the day, at night with the night mode it "plays" too much for my taste. There can be problems with moving objects, but even that should be solved by a software update. New are 24 MPx photos in the Expert RAW application. The biggest problem is the 3x zoom. You can still do it during the day, but it's worth taking pictures straight away at 5x. It's pointless at night, forget you have it. Nothing has really changed with the ultra-wide lens. Even that is still included, but that applies to all smartphones that do offer it, but it is usually useless. Nothing has changed and nothing about the front camera.

Software and mantra Galaxy AI

Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24Ultra are the first Samsung phones to come with One UI 6.1 out of the box. The superstructure is then built on Androidu 14. While AI features are meant to be the highlight of the software experience, One UI 6.1 brings a host of features and improvements beyond AI capabilities. The main ones are the display of wallpaper when you have the Always On display active, Super HDR for viewing photos in Gallery and Instagram, more customizable battery protection settings, customizable backgrounds for alarms and the ability to use the phone as a webcam.

Samsung has also adopted standard navigation gestures Androidu as the only navigation system based on gestures. But you can still go back in Good Lock. One UI 6.1 also brings smoother animations to the user interface, while introducing new animations for certain options, such as when you use the camera app's zoom feature. We already mentioned support for 7 future years. In doing so, Samsung caught up with Google Apple and is thus the pinnacle of how much potential you can get out of its device.

Galaxy AI is interesting. Circle to Search is an absolute gem, which I use practically every day, the summary of web articles is nice, but I rarely come across it. I don't really have a way to use the translations when Galaxy The AI doesn't know Czech yet, but it will one day. The photo editor and everything around it was actually rather disappointing. According to your imagination, it will catch in about half of the cases, and that is simply not enough to trust this modification. Generative wallpapers are fun, but you go through them once in a while to change it up.

O Galaxy We've written a lot about AI, and we'll write a lot more, but right now I don't see it as something I'd buy a new Ultra for. However, it is worth noting here that thanks to S Pen, s Galaxy The AI works much better than what we tried it on Galaxy S24+. This is simply because it makes everything more accurate and easier, especially if you're marking and scrolling anything.

Buy? Yes, but…

You probably didn't expect it to be a problem. Samsung wouldn't allow that with the Ultra, so it only mattered how great it would be and Galaxy The S24 Ultra is simply great. In every respect. There are only a few negatives and you can easily overcome them, if you don't count the price among them, which can be a clear obstacle. Everything is different here, from the design and quality of the display (in addition, according to DXO, it is the very best of all tested smartphones) to top-notch performance and battery life, and the artificial intelligence functions are just a little extra. You have here the best chip, 7 years of support, universal and creative cameras.

Bottom line, if you don't have deep pockets, you just want this. What else to reach for? The 35 CZK is not enough. If you own Galaxy S23 Ultra, you'll probably get the upgrade without a problem, especially if it's in this series as well Galaxy AI promised. If you want to Galaxy Ditching the Exynos from the S22 Ultra and getting fundamentally better cameras makes sense, as does anything older or otherwise.
