Google Wallet is one of the most popular digital payment services globally, which the American giant likes its other applications. It's now adding a new Verifications Settings page to it, which lets you "choose whether to verify your identity when using payment methods and Wallet items."

The new Verifications Settings page appears under the new Security section of Wallet Settings. At the moment, only one item is displayed on the page, which is public transport payments. This is accompanied by the text "Verification before paying for the bus, metro, etc. by credit or debit card".

Google explains how "the user will first look for transport passes", which "never require verification". If there are none, "a credit or debit card fee may apply."

Users have the option within the new page to turn off the Verification required switch, which is on by default. If the switch is turned off, the user will not need to verify their identity with their default credit or debit card before paying for shipping, even if their phone is locked. According to Google, for all other payments with this card, the user's identity will continue to be verified. The new page appears in the latest version of Wallet 24.10.616896757.
