AI-powered image generators have taken the world by storm in the last year. Names such as Dall-E, MidJourney or even Bing are inflected in all possible cases. Which AI image generators are worth trying?

stable diffusion

Stable Diffusion is among the most popular AI image generators for the simple reason that you have full control over it. It runs on your computer and you have control over the code and the models used, and you can even train it on your own face if you want. There are web graphics interfaces that you can download and set up, but you'll need a fairly fast computer to generate the images. It's completely free and you're in control of everything, but the downside is that controlling everything means you also need the hardware to run it. Stable Diffusion also does things like image upscaling and img2img, which takes the base artwork you create and turns it into a high-quality image.

From E 3

DALL-E 3 was created by OpenAI. You get it for free in Microsoft Copilot, but it's also available if you pay for ChatGPT Plus. It can render images just like Stable Diffusion, but you don't need super powerful hardware to do it. It also handles text significantly better than any of its predecessors in the industry, making it much better for generating images that contain text somewhere, although it still has some room for improvement in that regard. ChatGPT is one of the best LLM which is completely free to use. You need to create an account, but nothing else is required.

midjourney

Midjourney has been free for quite some time through the Discord server, but now there is a fee to use it. Starting at $10 per month, you'll be able to create images that take up to 3,3 hours of GPU time per month. That's not bad considering the images will mostly be generated in less than a minute, but keep in mind that both Copilot and Stable Diffusion offer free options.
