Even at the beginning of the year, when there were already speculations about what was to come Galaxy S8 in full swing, some leaks have suggested that Samsung will not get rid of the physical button, just offer it in a smaller form in a narrow frame below the display. However, as we all know very well, that did not happen. The South Koreans actually removed the button, or replaced it with a software one, and moved the fingerprint sensor, previously integrated in the home button, to the back next to the camera. But now we learn that the company was thinking about Galaxy S8 with a button under the display and we get a glimpse of what such a device would look like.

The company's patent saw the light of day, where it shows itself Galaxy S8 with an infinity display, minimal bezels, but with a physical home button. It is traditionally inserted into the lower frame and compared to its predecessors, it is significantly narrower, which is of course understandable. The patent also shows the back of the phone, where there is not even a trace of the fingerprint sensor, so it is more than clear that it is integrated in the narrow home button.

Device design proposal directly from the aforementioned Samsung patent:

It is questionable whether the patent is based on an actually tested prototype. It's quite possible that the company simply patented the design for the sake of Chinese companies that could make copies of the phone. But if the South Koreans physical button do Galaxy They actually tried to fit the S8, then probably ran into a problem with the fingerprint reader not working as they imagined in the narrow home button.
