A few days ago we informed you that the production of the new Samsung is starting Galaxy The S9 is practically on the way, because its development is complete. Today, another report confirmed this scenario. The South Korean giant reportedly placed a huge order for one of the most important components of future flagships.

South Korean media sources claim that the 3D sensor, which should significantly improve facial recognition and thus the safety of new Galaxy S9, Samsung ordered a huge number from its supplier a few days ago, and after their delivery, it can start assembling the new phones. In one breath, however, the sources add that Samsung won't just stick to the face scan.

Iris scan as the future of authentication?

According to the available information, the South Koreans see great potential mainly in the iris scan, which they would like to develop even more in the coming years and make it the most secure authentication method in the world. So it is possible that the 3D scan is more of a kind of alternative that will replace the fingerprint reader for a few years, before everything moves to the iris scan only. The face scan may then, following the pattern of the fingerprint scan, which probably will not appear in the new S9, also disappear or Samsung will practically not develop it at all.

We'll see what Samsung will show off in the spring of next year. However, since facial recognition is considered by many users to be nonsense that does not guarantee their security, it will have to really impress with its technology. So hopefully he will be able to catch all the flies and show that he is the one who has the potential to set the direction in this industry.
