Samsung by the side Galaxy The S9 and S9+ also introduced the new My BP Lab app for accurate blood pressure and stress measurement. The app is designed to make the most of the innovative optical sensor available in Samsung's latest flagship models to provide users with the most accurate informace about their health status. The advantage lies primarily in the fact that phones are able to measure blood pressure without additional external devices.

The My BP Lab app was developed by Samsung in collaboration with the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and together they launched a program where users can sign up. After joining the program, users will earn on-demand throughout the day informace about blood pressure and stress. One of the goals of the study is to optimize the My BP Lab app to provide contextualized and science-based feedback and to make users more aware of their blood pressure readings and stress levels, so they can better monitor their health. Based on the collection of data from thousands of users in real conditions, the study further refines blood pressure readings.

Users who launch the My BP Lab app will be invited to participate in a three-week UCSF research study to track stress and how emotions experienced throughout the day affect physical and mental well-being. Participants will report on their behavior, including sleep, exercise and diet, and use a smartphone sensor to measure their blood pressure throughout the day. For example, they will learn which day of the week they experienced the most stress or what effect the quality of sleep at night had on their blood pressure in the morning.

Unfortunately, the program you need to join in order to get your blood pressure and stress readings is currently limited to the United States and to those 18 and older. The necessary My BP Lab app will be available on the Google Play Store starting March 15.
