Update: The article is supplemented by an official statement from Samsung.

Labor pains are not uncommon with new smartphones. Consider, for example, exploding batteries in a model Galaxy Note7, the inflatable battery in last year's iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, or the unresponsive display in the cold in the iPhone X. Unfortunately, problems did not escape even the recently introduced Samsung Galaxy Footnote9.

Although the new Note9 got into the hands of customers only a few days ago, some have already encountered the first problem with it. It seems that the display of some models does not touch the body exactly as it probably should, due to which a small light comes out of the gap. At least that's how the problem is described. Although this is a small thing, it is clear that, for example, when using the phone in the dark, the light shining through can be quite disturbing.

Interestingly, after reports of light leaking from the side of the phone began to appear on various foreign forums, owners of Note8 and S9 models began to speak up, saying they noticed the same problem with their models. However, apparently this is a very small percentage of all owners of these models, so there is definitely no reason to panic. Some Note9 owners who have encountered this problem even speculate that it is not a bug and the beam is just a certain reflection of the display created by the specially curved screen.

Whatever the cause, Samsung has begun to investigate it according to available information. However, he has not yet given an official statement on the issue, so we will have to wait a little longer for the final verdict. Hopefully it will not be anything serious and the problem (if it is confirmed) will only affect a small percentage of users whose phones Samsung will replace without a problem.

Samsung's statement on the issue described above:
This unusual effect is the result of the unique characteristics of the product with curved displays, which can appear when using the device in a dark place. So it is not a device defect.
