Samsung introduced new mid-range smartphones Galaxy A33 5G a Galaxy A53 5G. Although it might seem that the first mentioned does not offer much compared to its siblings, the opposite is true. They differ from them only in some details, such as the lower resolution of some cameras or the lower refresh rate of the display. We will now look at whether it is worth upgrading to this phone for owners of its "grandfather" Galaxy A31.

Both phones have a 6,4-inch Infinity-U Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, Galaxy However, the A33 5G supports a 90Hz refresh rate, while Galaxy The A31 has to make do with the standard 60Hz frequency. Galaxy The A33 5G also boasts Gorilla Glass 5 display protection (Galaxy A31 has none). The novelty also boasts increased resistance to water and dust, according to the IP67 standard (this means that it can withstand immersion to a depth of up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes). Galaxy A31 is not protected against water or dust at all.

Galaxy The A33 5G is equipped with a quad camera with a resolution of 48, 8, 5 and 2 MPx. Compared to its two-generation old sibling, it does not have such a high-quality depth sensor (2 vs. 5 MPx), but it boasts a better main camera. Not only does it have a better lens aperture (f/1.8 vs. f/2.0), but it also offers a "difference" function in the form of optical image stabilization. Of course, it uses Samsung's brand new mid-range chipset Exynos 1280 (the same drives i Galaxy A53 5G), which will apparently be noticeably faster than the Helio P66 chip that its "grandson" is equipped with. It will also definitely be more energy efficient.

Better endurance, longer software support

The phone got a battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh, and it has the same size Galaxy A31. However, the novelty offers fast charging with a power of 25 W, while Galaxy A31 has to make do with 15 Watts. Software-wise, it is built on Androidat 12 with superstructure One UI 4.1 and Samsung guarantees it four major system updates and five years of security updates. Galaxy The A31 was launched with Androidem 10 and the One UI 2.5 extension, it is possible to upgrade it to Android 11 and at some point in the future it should receive an update with Androidem 12. It will receive security updates until 2024. So in this respect it is Galaxy A33 5G much more promising.

As can be seen from the above, the answer to the question of whether it is worth z Galaxy A31 go to Galaxy A33 5G, it's easy. Perhaps the only disadvantage of the novelty compared to Galaxy A31 is the absence of a 3,5 mm jack, and the lack of a power adapter in the package, but this is really just a detail that easily overcomes the higher refresh rate of the display, increased durability, apparently more than enough power, 25W fast charging and long software support. The phone will be available with us from April 22 in the 6 + 128 GB variant, at a price of CZK 8.
