This is because it hides inside the glasses, and then people can start using it not only to display virtual reality, but also to display the real world, which is served by the hole on the cover, with which the user attaches the phone to the glasses. It is worth noting that we can see in the photo Galaxy S5, which started speculation that the Gear VR will support devices other than Galaxy Note 4.
