Samsung Galaxy The Note 4 just arrived at my house a few days ago, and I personally spent most of the time using it playing with its S Pen. However, we must not forget another important feature, namely the camera, which is 16 megapixels and has optical image stabilization. However, did you know that this camera has some software limitations? They may annoy some people, and even though it is a fact that you probably won't be recording 4K UHD video for days, it is still possible that someone is bothered by the limitation of UHD video recording to only 5 minutes. This apparently also angered a developer from the XDA-Developers community, who modified Samsung's code and published its modified form on the Internet.
And what changes everything is the modification that allows you to get the most out of the camera Galaxy Note 4? A total of 10 camera functions have been modified:
- JPEG quality increased from 96% to 100%
- Maximum dual Full HD video recording length extended from 5 minutes to 10 minutes
- Maximum dual HD video recording length extended from 10 minutes to 30 minutes
- Maximum length of 4K UHD video recording extended from 5 minutes to 30 minutes
- Maximum recording length of Smooth Motion videos extended from 10 minutes to 30 minutes
- Increased Smooth Motion transfer rate from 28 Mbit/s to 40 Mbit/s.
- Increased transfer rate of UHD video from 24 Mbit/s to 65 Mbit/s.
- Increased transmission speed of Full HD video from 20 Mbit/s to 40 Mbit/s.
- Icon and button transparency level changed to 30%
- A greenish touch and brand new camera icons
- The camera and flash work even when the battery is low

As you can see, the changes are really pleasing and can improve the experience of using the camera on Galaxy Note 4. However, it should still be taken into account that Samsung made such restrictions mainly due to the hardware load, which results in overheating of the phone. This is also why when recording a 4K video, a warning appears that you should not record such a video for too long, if you do not want to have a too hot product in your hand. It should also be taken into account that due to higher quality, the files will take up more space and this is also the reason, for example, why manufacturers have decided to limit the capabilities of the cameras in their phones. The mod itself works on both models Galaxy Note 4 and so the processor is not a problem. However, the problem is that you have to root your device, which will void your warranty.
- Download it Galaxy Note 4 Camera Mod
- by ES File Explorer or another program, open the /system/app directory
- Delete (or backup!) the SamsungCamera3.apk and SamsungCamera3.odex files
- From the archive, extract the files intended for your phone version (Snapdragon or Exynos)
- Copy the SamsungCamera3.apk file to the /system/app folder
- Copy the media_profiles.xml file to the /system/etc/ folder
- Don't forget to set rw-rr permissions on the files
- Restart your Galaxy Footnote 4.
