Samsung wants to convince us that size really does matter, regardless of whether it's a smartphone, tablet or television. The latest effort can literally be called a flagship, as its dimensions exceed the height of many skyscrapers, including the 381-meter Empire State Building in New York. No, this is not a prototype of a new maxi-device, it is a Prelude boat that was manufactured by Samsung for the needs of the Dutch-British concern Shell.

Samsung's new flagship is longer than four football fields, weighs more than 600 tons and is designed to withstand a category five cyclone. You might think that an oil company can get by with a smaller tanker, but it can't do what the Samsung/Shell Prelude can do. It is a FLNG, i.e. floating factory, which will process liquefied natural gas. The gigantic ship is already leaving the dock in South Korea these days and will operate on the northern coast of Australia for the next 000 years. In terms of dimensions, it is a colossus that easily surpasses world-famous skyscrapers, including the Petronas Towers in Malaysia. If you were to build the ship vertically, there would be 25 meters of iron in front of you!
