Samsung Gear Live BlackSamsung really kicked things up a notch with the watch this year. In addition to releasing a watch with its own operating system, Google revealed another novelty a few days ago, which is the Samsung Gear Live watch. In practice, this is a modified version of the Gear 2, which was stripped of the camera and home button and enriched with an operating system Android Wear. The watches will be sold from the 4th to the 7th. July, but Google I/O attendees got them for free to test. So what are their advantages and disadvantages?

In terms of price, the watch is in a similar category to the LG G watch Watch. They are a little cheaper and so their price was set at $199, which is the price at which Samsung started selling, for example, the Gear Fit bracelet with a bent display. However, the company may have three main reasons for this. The first reason is that the watch does not include a camera, which has partially reduced its price. The second reason is related to the operating system. Unlike the Gear 2, the Gear Live includes an operating system Android Wear and are thus more dependent on a smartphone than the Gear 2, where it was possible to use a significant part of the functions even without connecting to the phone. Android Wear however, it ensures compatibility with a wide range of devices and thus it is possible to connect them to other smartphones with Androidom than just the k team from Samsung.

Finally there is the third factor which is the battery. The Samsung Gear Live contains the same battery as the Gear 2, so inside we find a battery with a capacity of 300 mAh. However, because the system is set so that the watch has a permanently on display, the battery drains significantly faster. While in the case of the Samsung Gear 2 it is enough to charge the watch every three days, with the Samsung Gear Live charging becomes a daily affair. The watch can last for 24 hours and then it needs to be connected to the charger again. In this regard, the competition has a significant advantage. LG G Watch, which comes out around the same time as the Gear Live and costs $229, has a 400 mAh battery, making it last a bit longer than Samsung's new watch.
