Samsung Developer Conference 2014Prague, November 13, 2014 – The best developers from around the world are participating in the second annual Samsung Developer Conference. Samsung introduced new platforms and opportunities focused on innovation that improves consumer lifestyles through open collaboration
with developers. These are mainly new software tools and technologies aimed at advancing the field health, smart homes, wearable devices a virtual reality.

Digital Health: Health

  • The Samsung Digital Health (SDH) Platform SDK gives developers the ability to focus on informace about the health of the consumer, such as activity, exercise, food consumption and more. In addition, it synchronizes informace with Samsung Cloud server and Samsung Account. Services and applications can thus be connected to the SDH platform, where users can use quality services from Samsung's healthcare partners.
  • An open reference platform simband can now be ordered by developers who want to design sensors and algorithms based on this platform. Simband is an open hardware reference concept for wearable technology. It is capable of integrating the most advanced sensing technologies in the world.
  • SDK for Samsung SAMIIO, an open cloud software platform that is able to connect fragmented data from different sources for analysis purposes.
  • Nový bio processor from Samsung enables device makers to easily add health monitoring to their next-generation smart wearables.
  • Samsung expands its domain from personal wellness to preventive health services by building relationships with service providers from the medical, insurance and healthcare industries.

Smart Home: A smart household

Samsung continues to expand its vision for smart homes through its own initiative Smart Home and also SmartThings. The Samsung Smart Home platform is designed for the smart home experience. Developer tools, such as the beta version of the Smart Home SDK, enable customers control household appliances, which support this SDK, via a Samsung Smart TV or smartphone.

The SmartThings development environment now integrates selected Samsung appliances. It aims to support an open ecosystem of products and experiences in the smart home, and ultimately lead to a comprehensive smart home.

Wearables and Virtual Reality

  • Gear S SDK allows developers to create unique applications that use data from the mobile network and GPS, more comprehensive notifications and an advanced user interface of the device.
  • Gear VR Innovator Edition, powered by technology from Oculus, combines long-standing gaming experience with a developer community and virtual reality technologies for a completely new mobile virtual reality experience.

"Oculus and Samsung have jointly created a completely unique Gear VR Innovator Edition product. Virtual reality is still in its infancy as a new technology and medium, but we can't wait to see what the community creates and shares with the world on this new platform.” said Brendan Iribe, CEO of Oculus.

During the conference, there are many lectures where participants are introduced to new development tools, such as the Samsung TV SDK based on Titzen, the Multi-screening Gaming Platform and the EDU SDK.
