WELT_리플레_151222_최종SEOUL, Korea – January 5, 2016 – At this year's CES 2016, Samsung Electronics will present three projects from its Creative Lab development center for the first time ever. C-Lab is one of Samsung's innovation programs that supports employees' creative ideas. WELT projects will experience their premiere - a belt that will help users with a healthy lifestyle, regularly measures waist circumference and records daily routine and habits; rink - control of wearable devices using hand movements and TipTalk - a completely new way of transmitting sound from wearable devices through your own body.

They will be on display at Eureka Park, where all CES startups are gathered, from January 6 to 9, 2016. Although they are still in development, Samsung wants to mainly get open feedback from the visitors of the fair through their presentation, and based on the comments, then work on their further improvement.

Samsung WORLD

WELT is a smart band designed for everyday wear that offers users a more discreet way to use smart sensor technology to monitor their own health. WELT can record waist circumference, eating habits and number of steps or calculate the time the user spends sitting. It then sends this data to a special application that analyzes it and compiles an individual plan for a healthy lifestyle or diet.

Rink is an advanced control system for mobile wearable devices that provides an intuitive and completely new way of interacting with the virtual world. The ability to intuitively control a game or content with just a hand gesture brings better experiences to users.

TipTalk is a brand new interface through which people can listen to audio from their smart devices like the Samsung Gear S2 without headphones or headsets, just by placing their own finger to their ear. Tip Talk improves the clarity of the sound so much that it is possible, for example, to receive calls in public spaces, in places where it is not possible to speak loudly, or conversely in a busy environment.

TipTalk, designed in the form of a strap, can be used in combination with any type of watch and can be synchronized with smartphones including text-to-speech (TTS) functionality.

Since its inception in 2012, Samsung C-Lab has stimulated creative thinking across the company and has already supported more than 100 projects to date. So far, 70 of them have been fully completed and 40 ideas are still being developed.

A total of nine projects with high potential were selected this year. Samsung helped these project teams launch full-fledged external startups. For example, the inventor of the Tip Talk interface, Innomdle Lab, launched its independent business in August 2015.
