20nm-4Gb-DDR3-03Samsung is once again the first in something. This time, the South Korean company announced that it managed to create the fastest RAM in the world. DDR5 type memory uses the HBM2 interface and is capable of a transfer speed of up to 256 GB/s, which makes it up to 7 times faster than the previous DDR5 modules used in graphics cards. The company announced that it will provide its super-fast 4GB DDR5 memory to manufacturers of corporate servers, as well as to manufacturers of graphics cards, nVidia and AMD.

Memory modules for graphics cards will be manufactured using the 20-nm manufacturing process, which will make them consume less than today's memories while offering higher performance. Currently, 4GB chips consisting of four layers with 8-gigabit cores are being produced, but they are soon to go into production of 8GB memory with eight layers.
