It's been a very long time since Samsung showed us a new rugged smartphone, since 2015. Yes, we're talking about Galaxy Xcover and for some reason the South Korean company decided to release new Xcovers on the market once every two years. It can thus be said that this is a two-year series.

Sales of the last Xcover model started already in 2015. However, Samsung confirmed at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 that we will see the new Xcover 4 in April. So we can look forward not only to a completely redesigned design, but also to protection against water and dust and resistance to extreme temperatures.

Galaxy The Xcover 4 will have an IP68 certification, which makes it clear to us that the new model is not even a meter deep in water. In addition, the phone received a special certification from the US military, namely MIL-STD 810G. This means that it will be possible to work with the smartphone even in the most extreme conditions, thus also in high and low temperatures. In addition, Xcover 4 will be resistant to sunlight, salt water, fog, shocks and vibrations.

Galaxy Xcover 4 will offer a 4,99″ TFT display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The heart of the device will then be a quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1,4 GHz, an operating memory with a capacity of 2 GB and also an internal storage of 16 GB (with the possibility of expansion with a microSD card). The weight of the phone is only 172 grams, which is really little for such a robust device. We can also look forward to a 2 mAh battery and support for NFC technology. Xcover 800 then drives the latest operating system, i.e Android in version 7.0 Nougat.

On the back of the device, we can expect a 13-megapixel camera with 5% certainty, which will be enriched with an LED flash. A 259-megapixel chip will then be available on the front. Sales will start in March this year with a price tag not exceeding XNUMX EUR.
