Apple iPhone 6s and Samsung Galaxy S7, or the two biggest rivals of 2016. Each of them definitely had something to offer last year (but of course also now), because it was the very tip of the imaginary smartphone pyramid. But which one really reigned? Is the battle between these flagship smartphones even, or does each simply rule in its own category? We decided to find out, so we used both phones for a long time and tested which one is better. So let's take a look at the user experiences and, of course, at the demos themselves.

Packing

We will start with the simplest and at the same time the most basic, which is packaging. Unboxing both phones, you'll find basically the same thing in the box - adapter, cable, earphones, SIM tray ejector clip and phone - but the quality of the accessories is different. To Galaxy In addition, Samsung included a reduction from micro USB to standard USB-A with the S7, which together with the application will help you quickly transfer data from another phone (even from an iPhone), but mainly allows you to easily connect an ordinary USB flash drive and play movies, music from it or import photo.

Everything else is basically the same for both phones. Adapter for Galaxy However, the S7 boasts fast charging support thanks to its 5V output at 2A, while the iPhone only offers an output of 5V at 1A. So if you want to charge your Apple phone faster, you need to buy a 12W iPad charger for an additional 579 CZK. The headphones are incredibly similar, because here the South Koreans were inspired by the Californian giant. However, Apple's headphones are better made and offer a slightly better sound. Again, the power and data cables are almost identical, however the Samsung version feels a bit sturdier, but on the other hand more ordinary. Apple's cable is softer, more flexible, but also more prone to wear.

If I were to evaluate the processing of the packaging as such, it definitely wins Apple. The box is more premium, everything is clean and neatly packed. The individual accessories have their exact place in the box, where they fit to the millimeter and, for example, such headphones were perfectly rolled up in the iPhone package, those for Galaxy The S7s are a bit clumsily packaged.

System

Both flagship phones are similar in many ways, but they differ in one fundamental way - the operating system. I would not like to get into a detailed comparison Androidus iOS, because in my opinion both systems definitely have something to offer and each suits someone else. Some prefer openness, while others prefer security, simplicity and the firm hand of Apple.

However, it is true that Android it definitely makes the overall use of the phone easier in a way. You can set various shortcuts, adjust everything to your needs and, if necessary, immediately upload the necessary data from any computer or flash drive. That u iOS it is not that easy, which is sometimes quite limiting. On the other hand, you will receive an update to the new system at the same minute as millions of other users around the world, and you know for sure that your phone will work without problems for several years after purchase, and that it will continue to function for several generations of the system Apple support.

Na Galaxy S7 or on Androidwith 6.0.1 with the TouchWiz superstructure, I probably liked the openness of NFC the most, thanks to which I could pay contactless by phone even in the Czech Republic. ČSOB and Komerční banka already allow mobile payments, and I was lucky enough to have one of the mentioned banks. WITH iPhonem or s iOS you won't enjoy anything like that with us. Apple Pay is still not available in the Czech Republic, and banks currently have no other option to receive contactless payments even on an Apple phone.

Fingerprint sensor

Let's move on to something more interesting. iPhone was the first phone equipped with a fingerprint reader. Samsung did not delay long and introduced its own solution in its flagship, the so-called Swipe sensor, i.e. basically an ordinary capacitive sensor, which, however, had fewer transistors and therefore it was necessary to run a finger over it in order to be able to scan the entire fingerprint.

Today, however, phones from the South Korean giant are equipped with standard sensors, which are understandably faster and more secure. I dare say that in a certain respect they surpassed their teacher, that is iPhone. I personally thought that the reader v Galaxy The S7 was faster and even more responsive to wet fingers. When my hand got sweaty, it wasn't very often that I did Galaxy The S7 refused to unlock, but the iPhone 6s did the exact opposite. How many times has it happened to me that I iPhone I couldn't unlock it with sweaty fingers, and when I immediately put the same finger to the reader on Galaxy S7, so the phone unlocked without hesitation.

It also seemed to me that the reader in Galaxy The S7 was faster than Touch ID on the iPhone 6s. However, it could also be caused by the animation when unlocking the phone, which is on Androidnoticeably faster. That's why I deliberately made a video, shown below, where you can see the difference and the speed of unlocking both phones via the fingerprint reader.

Camera

Camera comparison is something that will probably interest the vast majority of you. Both phones take great photos, but the Apple phone excels in some ways and the South Korean smartphone in another. At first there was a clear winner for me Galaxy S7. Photos always looked better on the phone's screen, they were above all more vivid and colorful. But later I realized that it would be fair for me to compare the photos on the same device. So I uploaded the photos to my computer. Images from Galaxy The S7 was still great, but not as colorful and vibrant as the phone's display, while the iPhone 6s photos were pretty much the same as the iPhone. Behind everything is the OLED display u Galaxy S7, which has a different color rendering than LCD displays and therefore beautifies photos.

But the colors are improved not only by the OLED display, but also by itself Galaxy S7 or its camera. Photos from the iPhone 6s correspond more closely to reality than images from Galaxy S7. The result was almost always a photo from Galaxy S7 better than the same one from the iPhone, but the one from the phone with a bitten apple was more realistic. The rule "one hundred people, one hundred tastes" applies here, and it's up to each of you whether you want a nice-looking photo or a picture that corresponds to reality. I myself have not been able to decide until now.

But where Galaxy The S7 dominates, there are photos in poor light conditions and mostly in the dark or under artificial light. Photos from the iPhone 6s are noticeably lower in quality and often show noise. Dark places are sometimes too dark, which is mainly due to the f/2,2 aperture compared to f/1,7 u Galaxy S7. On the other hand iPhone again gives a more realistic photo. Galaxy The S7 takes better photos in poor light, but in the vast majority of cases it makes everything lighter compared to reality, or corrects the colors. A great example can be found in the gallery below in the photos of the restaurant, iPhone 6s photographed the scene exactly as it actually was, while Galaxy S7 colored it based on artificial lighting. The photos of these scenes are therefore worse from the iPhone, but realistic.

Other

But the contents of the package, the operating system, the speed of the fingerprint sensor and the camera are not the only things that matter Galaxy S7 to iPhone 6s varies. There is also a significant difference in the equipment of both phones, where Galaxy The S7 clearly reigns supreme. Now I don't mean hardware elements like the processor or the RAM memory, even here of course the phones differ, but both will offer practically top performance that is equal to each other. Specifically, I have to highlight above all the fast charging, when Galaxy The S7 charges in about 1 hour and 45 minutes, while iPhone 6s with a standard 5W charger in about 3 hours.

Similarly, I have to praise the wireless charging u Galaxy S7, which probably not every owner will use, because Samsung does not include a wireless charger with the phone, but you need to buy it, but it is still more than useful. Today, the Qi or PMA standard already supports, for example, furniture from Ikea, or even some cars have it, where a special drawer is hidden, where you put your phone while driving and it charges wirelessly. In addition, wireless charging is no longer limited by the slow charging of the phone, and so it is Galaxy The S7 will fully charge in about 2 hours.

The last point where Galaxy The S7 leads, is IP68 certified. This ensures complete resistance to dust and water resistance to a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes. iPhone Unfortunately, the 6s cannot boast of anything similar, which is a great shame. Apple he did not hurry with water resistance until a year later, i.e. with the iPhone 7 – but late.

What about me on the contrary Galaxy The S7 didn't really excite, it was the Always On display. On the one hand, it is great, drains the phone's battery only minimally (about 0,5-1% per hour) and constantly shows you the time and some notifications. The problem is that it only supported basic applications for displaying notifications, so if you receive a notification from today's most used applications such as Messenger, WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram, you won't know about it from the Always On display. iPhone The 6s doesn't offer Always On, but it does boast the Raise To Wake feature, where the display lights up when you pick up the phone from the table or out of your pocket and immediately shows you all notifications, time, etc. without having to press a single button. The Raise to Wake feature is incredibly addictive and dare I say better than Always On.

záver

Samsung Galaxy The S7 clearly has a lot to offer, in fact it offers more than that iPhone 6s. Whether it's wireless charging, fast charging, IP68 dust and water resistance, or even microSD card support, which can be crucial for someone. It could be argued that Galaxy The S7 also offers a better camera. It clearly manages to take better photos in the dark, but overall it colors and enhances everything and the result is less true to reality than the photos from the iPhone, although in some cases it is indeed better. A hundred people, a hundred tastes and it's up to each of you which phone you like the photos from more.

But in my opinion iPhone 6s clearly leads, it is a system. iOS it is simply cleaner, clearer, simpler and perfectly connected with other systems from Apple. Galaxy The S7 has clearly improved with the new TouchWiz, but the system is still very overcombined, even though it offers more functions thanks to this.

It's really hard to decide which phone is better. Everyone has something to offer their customer and it is clear that Galaxy S7 i iPhone 6s have their owners who don't let them down. So I would not like to decide in the end which of the phones is better. Each of you can form your own opinion from the paragraphs above.
