Samsung announced at its developer conference last year that it had teamed up with Google to jointly bring the ARCore platform to the range of phones Galaxy, with the platform aiming to centralize and simplify the application of augmented reality to Androidu. The first flagships to boast ARCore support were Galaxy S8 to Galaxy S8+. But for this year Galaxy S9 to Galaxy ARCore support is still on the way for the S9+, but the good news is that it should arrive in the next few weeks.

ARCore is Google's software platform for augmented reality solutions. Currently, almost 100 applications are built on the platform, such as the furniture visualizer from IKEA, the virtual bakery from Food Network or the virtual university campus YouVisit Campus.

A huge advantage is that ARCore doesn't need an array of depth sensors and cameras for 3D mapping of the environment, like the Project Tango AR platform that Google also worked on. This is because it is a software solution that brings augmented reality experiences even to less powerful devices.

Galaxy The S9 doesn't have platform support yet, but it looks like it will be ready in the next few weeks. Samsung wants to extend AR solutions to its smartphones and even believes that AR will go beyond smartphones in the future.
