Samsung is a long-term contributor to the South Korean economy through its business. The South Korean electronics giant continues to be on the rise and is currently responsible for more than 20% of the country's total exports in the first half of this year. Samsung's regular half-yearly financial report informs about this.

He also mentions that Samsung paid a record $7,8 billion in taxes in its home country of South Korea, despite the fact that the company has seen a fairly sharp decline in operating income over the past two quarters. Last year, that amount was about $6,5 billion, or about 19,7%.

However, other interesting facts emerge from Samsung's half-yearly financial report. The company has improved significantly in terms of sales. It earned approximately $62 billion in the said half-year, with most of that revenue (86% to be exact) coming from foreign markets. This amount represents 20,6% of total exports from South Korea for the period. The largest foreign market for Samsung is North America, where the electronics manufacturer earned a total of 21,2 trillion Korean won over the past six months. In China, Samsung earned KRW 17,8 trillion, while in the rest of Asia (that is, excluding China and South Korea) it was a total of KRW 16,7 trillion. In the European market, Samsung earned 9 trillion Korean won in the past six months.
