Samsung is currently facing a curious problem, with hundreds of users reporting problems with Blu-Ray players from the South Korean tech giant's workshop since Friday. According to posts on the Samsung forums, it seems that some devices keep rebooting, while others have no control buttons. Some players also make sounds as if they are reading the disc, while the drive is empty, from this we could deduce that it is a hardware problem. But where is the truth?
The inconveniences listed above do not concern only one specific model, which tells us that it will be more of a software issue. Some users think it could be a failed firmware update. But this is unlikely, given how many different models of Blu-Ray players have been affected by the problem. As a rule, manufacturers do not release updates for such a large range of devices in one weekend.
According to the information published by the ZDnet server, the reason could be the expiration of the SSL certificate, which the players use to connect to the Samsung servers. The South Korean company exited the Blu-Ray player market last year, is it possible that Samsung forgot to renew key certificates due to exiting this segment? We will not find out, because Samsung itself has not yet commented on the problem. However, a post by a forum administrator appeared on the US Samsung forum: “We are aware of customers who have reported a reboot issue with some Blu-Ray players, we will be looking into the issue. As soon as we have more information, we will publish it in this thread".
Do you own a Samsung Blu-Ray player and have you encountered these problems? Let us know in the comments.
Hello, I have this problem too.
Home cinema HT-J5500, the device starts up and then after three seconds the NO DISK voice jumps and then LOAD, with the fact that the image flashes, so it's probably still restarting and the drive is empty.
Not working since Thursday.
I hope you can figure it out.
Yes, I have the same problem with the Samsung HT-j5550w home theater
Can anyone help??
Hello. We also have the same problem. Do you have information on how to solve it?
Same problem.
I couldn't describe the departure of my samsung to the eternal hunting grounds better than your article.
Never again samsung !!!!!!!!
Same problem on two models bd-5500j and bd-5900j
It can be seen that this is a truly global problem. As soon as we have some informace, we will publish them as soon as possible.
Hello, has anyone solved this please?
Blu-ray Jd
exactly the same problem from the bottom, the Samsung logo flashes and restarts.
I've had a few bad experiences with Samsung, I don't buy and I'm fine...
Exactly the same problem model HT-J5500.
I have the same problem model BD-C6500
Same problem with BD J 5900. Not working since 20.6/XNUMX. I hope Samsung fixes this. Otherwise, I will never buy anything from Samsung again.
The same problem
I have the same problem and I'm trying the cables here :-/
Hmm, exactly the same problem and also from 22.6/5500. (HT-J XNUMX). It wouldn't occur to me that this is some kind of "mass" problem! 🙁
I have exactly the same problem with BD-J5900/EN as described above. The player has not been working for two weeks, and Samsung support in Holešovice said that I should bring the device and proceed as with a classic service. Resp. first send an email with a description of the defect.
I also have the same problem on the HT-J4200 player, does anyone have any info on when they will fix it?
In America and Africa, I send devices back for repair. Czech support is still not official informace, so we can wait and wait. Btw, I'm done with Samsung with this. Peace
Hello, is there any current information about what and how. Thank you
Samsung offers a repair even in the Czech Republic for free with the support of the given type, such a bell pops up with an error message when clicked! Does anyone have any experience with the repair? (the designated repair shop does not communicate with me via email and does not answer the phone)
I have the same problem with my HT-j5550w home theater
The repair shop told me it was a software error.
I should contact the Samsung service, but I can't get a call there, and the nearest one is Prague.
Has anyone fixed this for you???
If so please for info.
Yes, I have the same problem with the Samsung HT-j5550w home theater
Can anyone help??
I have the same thing. HTJ 5500. Samsung representation for the Czech Republic referred me to the only representation in Prague. (VSPDATA)
Supposedly they will fix it for free. I contacted by phone, but they wanted to send a classic email about the problem. I have sent and am waiting for a reply. I certainly don't want to go to Prague, but listening to children say they don't have netflix isn't nice either. In any case, I feel a little sorry for Samsung for not providing any help (that something went wrong). There will be many people who will throw away the device and will not even suspect that the problem is not theirs. OH NO
Hello, how did you end up solving it? Thanks a lot
Hello, today the same problem flashes the image and seems to restart.
I'm fine with it anyway. Yesterday my player stopped working and as it is written here it seems to keep restarting. Has anyone solved this problem yet? I see this is already a year old problem, thanks for the reply
Samsung HT-E5500 same problem. Any fix?
I also have the same problem. I got a contact from Samsung. But no one is responding
The BD-J5900EN kept restarting for a long time, according to the telephone agreement, data was sent to VSP for post-warranty repair, solved by resetting to factory settings. All free including shipping at Samsung's expense. I hereby thank VSP Data
