Oppo has registered a patent with the World Intellectual Property Organization for a flexible smartphone that, at first glance, strikingly resembles Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. According to the patent documents, the device uses a swivel joint that allows it to have four usable angles.

Based on the images from the patent, well-known leaker website LetsGoDigital has in turn created a set of renders showing its potential design. It follows from them, first of all, that the phone lacks an external display. In other words, when the user folds it, they can't see who's calling them or what notifications they've received until they unfold it. For example, Samsung's flexible clamshell has such a small "warning" display Galaxy From Flip.

In addition, it is possible to see from the images that the display of the device has practically no frames (thus Galaxy Z Flip cannot boast) and that it has a centrally located hole for the front camera. On the back, you can see a horizontally arranged triple camera (Galaxy Z Flip has dual).

In any case, take the renders with a grain of salt, as the patent registration does not yet prove that Oppo is even working on such a device. Like others, the currently fifth largest smartphone manufacturer can only hold and protect ideas for future use in this way.
