Many market segments have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, but Samsung can rest easy. Thanks to social distancing and a surge in demand for work-from-home and distance learning tools, it saw increased profits in the 3rd and 4th quarters of last year. The technology giant has not only delivered memory chips and storage for computers, laptops and servers to stores, but also millions of tablets.

Samsung shipped 9,9 million tablets during the last quarter, up 41% year-on-year, and had a market share of 19%. In the period in question, it was the 2nd largest tablet manufacturer in the world. He was the unequivocal number one on the market Apple, which shipped 19,2 million tablets to stores and held a 36% share. It also grew significantly year-on-year, by exactly 40%.

In third place was Amazon, which delivered 6,5 million tablets to the market and whose share was 12%. The fourth position was taken by Lenovo with 5,6 million tablets and a share of 11%, and the top five largest manufacturers are rounded out by Huawei with 3,5 million tablets and a share of 7%. Lenovo recorded the largest year-on-year growth – 125% – while Huawei was the only one to report a decline of 24%. In total, manufacturers delivered 4 million tablets to the market in the 2020th quarter of 52,8, which is 54% more year-on-year.

Samsung released various tablets to the world last year, including high-end ones Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ as well as affordable models like Galaxy Tab A7 (2020). This year, he should introduce a successor to the first mentioned tablets or a budget one Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2021).
