A few days ago on the air the news broke, that there is a possibility that the processor giant AMD will move the production of its 3nm and 5nm processors and APUs as well as graphics cards from TSMC to Samsung. However, according to a new report, that probably won't happen in the end.

AMD has indeed had a supply problem, which is why some observers have speculated that it will turn to Samsung for help. However, sources cited by IT Home now claim that AMD's problems lie not in TSMC's inability to meet its demand, but in insufficient supplies of ABF (Ajinomoto Build-up Film; the resin substrate used as an insulator in all modern integrated circuits) substrates.

It is said to be an industry-wide problem that should have affected the production of other products from various suppliers and brands, including the Nvidia RTX 30 series graphics cards or the Playstation 5 gaming console.

Therefore, according to the website, there is no real reason for AMD to look for another supplier, especially since the partnership between the processor giant and TSMC is stronger than ever, after Apple switched to a 5nm manufacturing process, which opened the 7nm line for AMD.

Even though Samsung will apparently not outsource the production of AMD products, the two companies are already working together, namely on graphics chip, which is expected to appear in future Exynos chipsets.
